But the Schmitthelm springs, like SBS mentioned, are extremely good quality springs, its a good choice of part, overkill for most YB's but certainly there is NOTHING wrong with them.
You are taking people's replies out of context if you think people are saying they are "shit", no one is saying that.

Me personally l think to say it is F1 spec is aload of tosh as the first thing l would do as a customer is quiz you on it as a point but thats just me,
With regards Joe l guess what you are saying is he is heavily involved in the support and maintence of older F1q engines, again to split hairs on how old it has to be to be considered old is crazy

Some YB tuners use DFV springs as a readily available source of good quality springs
Some people who are essentially only backstreet tuners, and not in anyway linked to the manufacturers sometimes end up rebuilding non current F1 engines
Some people love to big their speclist up with terms that arent really meaningful, on my nova ive got touring car rods and lifters, a wrc fuel pump and a group b plenum for example

I wasnt just talking about you, I see LOADS of people (admitedly mainly they seem to be Joe's customers so I think we know where this tends to originate from) using the term "F1 spec" for their springs.
Because despite it being said lots of times now, you seem to be unable to differniate between F1 and Historic F1

he also gets invited to alot of auctions by them and a few years back he bought enough spares to build shit loads of dfv engines hence having alot of these valve springs and as theyre a lot of money he has to explain to ppl they have f1 springs hence why ppl say this...does this make them wrong???of course it doesnt

the springs are made by the same company that make f1 springs wound however you want..
if joe stevens builds some f1 engines (wich he does loads) what has that got to do with him competing against brawn in f1?????

see, my thread has helped at least one person out. it would seem its helped you out to know what springs you put in your own engines. as the first reply i got yesterday reads that they are not f1 springs but made by a company that makes/made f1 springs. But we we all know that they ARE f1 springs. I'm glad my post could be of some service

this topic is funny i had some bloke blagging my boss up saying for Ł5000 he could modify an engine ohv in a 1.1 fiesta to destroy practly anything on the road and would look no different, when i said i think the guys full of shit he came back with well i think this guy knows his stuff he used to build F1 engines

after reading most of this thread, i gather that a few people are comparing engine builders against each other..can it be comparable when they build different engines? also probably a daft question, but what makes a good engine builder?

I just feel in this case its uncalled for.
I'd be happy to use any of the big name tuners that have been mentioned so I'm not part of any crew, nor would I be if I had a MAD SCS or anyones elses engine, Its the internet, step away from it and you quickly appreciate they are all very good at what they do.

in truth i respect any one that does well at something and iv always said this..
mad martoon harvey i rate as top builders and theyve all achieved something and are willing to prove it in one way or another...
what does piss me of and get my back up is alot of mad customers realy do believe that thier engines are superior wich i know is not the truth as most of us all use the same parts(except f1 valve springs of course)so dont understand this but that doesnt mean all the mad crew just a stupid few and i shouldnt turn it around to that either...
what im trying to say its a shame more people arent like yourself

He ruins any decent thread and yes i reported his abuse to a moderator to get nothing done, he is obviously above the moderators too. Nearly every thread turns into "his" show.
