So how much bhp so you need to push that extra 10mph?say a 500bhp cossie would pull quickly up to 165/170 before the force of the air starts to make her run out of puff,to get it to carry on pulling until 180 would you need a extra 100 odd bhp?i know it would vary from cossie to cossie do to the different aerodynamics and transmissions etc

Do you mean within the confines of brunters, or on a much longer stretch of road?

The maths is very different.

i was thinking more on the road conditions rather then brunters, but would be also interesting to know what figures for brunters as well

At brunters 180mph is 450bhp+
On the road, you could easily do 180mph with 400bhp im sure.

Rod will have more data though, so will leave it for him to talk about as he knows a lot more about it than me, I only have a vague idea where as he normally knows to the nearest few bhp!

I wouldnt care if the car taken 20minutes or 20seconds to make 188+bhp. They made a car that did over 180mph...

gotta admit. anything over 150 and your lifes at risk. they all should be given respect. This reminds me of when i was 12 years old, sat in the school playground and everyone was saying, mines better than yours, no mines better than yours. Really C'mon.

Anyone that had made a good amount of SPEED is given nuff respect Init Bled. lol

can these speeds be done with standard gearing?

also at what rpm in 5th gear would you be doing 180mph with standard gearing?

I'm not reading this entire post as I'm not that interested. All I will say is everyone who has got / is getting out of their pram about 'my cars faster than your car' need to get a life. FFS, anything over 180 in a Sierra (or Escort in dave's case) is fuck off fast and proper scary so why all this arguing ? All tuners mentioned can and do build fast cars so let them get on with it. Friendly rivalry is one thing and welcome but alot of people of here need to grow up.

And people wonder why this site has gone to shit. Hardly rocket science is it ?

over 180mph in any car is a massive achievement tbh. especially in something designed 20 years ago lol
