Question Help - non start mk 4 astra

Hi i'm hoping there is some vauxhall experts on here that can help me as i've seached the net and can't find any help,

I've just got a S reg mk 4 astra 1.6 8v the car has been sat for nearly 3 years and when i picked it up it had no battery on it,

well ive been trying to get it going but the fuel pump doesn't run (no earth to the relay) and it has no spark, thought it may have an immobiliser fault as its cut of both things

any help would be great, cheers steve.

have you opened the key and replaced the battery in it? If you have then theres a good chance you have lost the transponder for the immobiliser, it usually sits inside the key

The remote central locking is working fine,

Took the key apart tonight to check if the transponder was still there and it is,

getting stuck at this stage was hoping to get it going this weekend.

Have you tried plugging a fault reader in, just a warning though Vauxhalls are very picky on which readers they let read them though.

Didnt know the good old hair clip still worked on more modern Vauxhalls.

I'll try getting the code reader from work tomorrow and see what that shows up. The thing is when I first got it home I gave it a crank over and didn't start so thought I'd listen for the fuel pump and I'm sure it was going, so I put it down to bad fuel but when I went to try it with fresh fuel it didn't run so I looked a bit further.

My old focus had that fault code. It needed a new pump. Maybe where its been sat for so long the pump had siezed? Try giving it a clout with a hammer to see if it will unstick!

Does a quick spurt of fuel come out when you turn the ignition on? If not then could be a knackered relay?

no fuel pump doesnt purge at all, fuel pump relay seems for work ok, but not sure if there is another relay thats not working like a ignition relay as i dont have a spark,
been told that the engine management flashes like mad if its the immobiliser and it dont so getting stuck.
