NUTS RuS,
A pm I sent to someone else was read from their inbox by another person whilst that person it was sent to was NOT online.
It would seem the mods have more access than I thought

Simon, thats underhand as i stated in this post about you:
https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92674

I knew the contents of the PM simply because GUS forwarded it to me to on MSN to check he had correctly interpreted when you were coming to his place.

Its very sad that you resort to these childish underhand tricks in the hope of making me look bad just because your bad practice has backfired on you.

Please everyone go to the original PHPBB forum coding authors forum and check for yourselves if you have any doubt whatsoever as to the security of your PM's. They can be found here: www.PHPBB.com

As to teh original question, it works exactly like E-mail but with a bonus.
After the mail is sent, it goes to your outbox. Once it is READ BY THE RECIPIENT it goes on to teh sentbox.

This way you know for a FACT they got and read it

Simon... poor show pal

To read someone's PM's you would have to search through the whole mysql database.....with the amount of users on this board it would take you months to find certain PM's
I'm sure the Admin has much better things to do

Stu @ M Developments,

It was never my intention to give you greif beyond what you have given me today
but I suspect you wont believe this.

Its easy to search an SQL (or any other) data base when you know the user name
ident tags other wise data bases would be useless. This is the point of them.

I do have ASP, PHP, PHPBB, JAVA, C and MySQL and other data base experience myself.

I mean, for example you can easily search for posts by user and or key word from the top menu on any page....

Great so you know more than me about the forum coding, good. So kindly answer these few tech questions for all these peeps who are now worried about their privacy:

1) How do you propose you gain access to the PF database to do this then Simon?

2) Do you think myself or any of the webteam have this experience and would know how to do this IF we had access to the database?

3) Would it not be easier for me to just ask my friend and customer GUS to paste it to me in MSN as i said to start with

WTF,

1) I have never said i wanted to gain access to the PF data base as you have implied.
What I did say is that ANYONE can serach a database with the search function
at the top of any page by clicking on SEARCH.
You made out that data bases could not be searched but this is what they
are designed for.

2) As administrator you have far more access rights than anyone else.

3) Yes .... but .......

I asked how you propose someone gain access to perform this search for a PM as im clueless as to where to start... Its part of the server that no one but pet can access..........

Being administrator of the PHP software does NOT give me access to the MySQL or PHP database as you FULL know.

Petrucci is in fact the only person with access as he is the webmaster.

The annoying thing is, you know all this anyway and just wanted to try and cause some trouble

As I have said before, I can only comment on what I have experienced myself today.

I will conceed to accept your comments here but I was NOT trying to cause
trouble for you as you are suggesting.

I was only posting my feelings on a subject that I had experience of
as other have done and have the right too on other threads.

But you had already been told it was simply pasted into an MSN convo, and youve even seen a bloody screenshot of it

Anyway.. enough of this topic, but offtopic totally please bear that offer from Nige in mind.. he is a top fella.
