Works perfectly in xp.
2nd my graphics card fan kept spinning to full speed sounding like a hair dryer everytime i open a picture file or video, again this did not happen in xp.
And its not like its because win7 has more eye candy because it only happened when i opened pic/video files.............
Drivers were correct/lastest.
Cant be bothered searching the net for fixes to problems that should not be there, and was not there in xp.

Wrong, i had a problem with my xfi sound card and 5.1 speaker setup, i downloaded the lastest win7 drivers/software, it all works fine except the sound coming out of the rear speakers was out of sync to the fronts/centre, by about 2 seconds so the sound was crap.
Works perfectly in xp.

the audio out of sync can be solved by clicking one button its just an option in the mixer
im going to guess you have an nvidia card???

windows 7 is ok if your on the internet or playing games that were made in the last few years, but not really that great if your into editing software, hex editors, and its completely useless for anything car related like programing ecu's live mapping if thats your thing i would stick with xp

depends what MB your running or what sound card? i use realtek so i just go into control panel into the realtek and its there but i didnt have the problem anyway,
as for the nvidia card seen a few posts about it very random they seemed to cure it with different drivers

Never bothered "upgrading" to Vista, so still on Xp.
IF was to go to W7 does it not give you an option to install on the same PC as Xp and have it as a dual boot, so as to get used to it for one, and two make sure it can do everything I want.
Seem to remember you could do this with Xp over something else but had to install it on another partition.
AND if it is possible can you install 64 bit W7 and leave my Xp as 32 bit ?
Steve

I was running windows 7 and xp as dual boot for a good 3/4 months before i just backed up, wiped clean and now just have windows 7
I can't answer the second bit as both my versions where 32bit but i don't see why it wouldn't work as they are seperate installations- i couldn't be sure though there may be some issues having 32 and 64bit on a dual boot config.

I'm still using the Windows 7 RC1, which is as slow as arseholes on my Dell XPS Core2 Duo @ 1.5Ghz with 2GB of memory. It is however, a million times better than the Vista Business that was on the same system out of the factory. Even the X64 edition of Windows 7 (or NT6.1 to give it a proper name) runs better than 32 bit Vista. Windows NT has classically run better with more memory and SCSI disks - until you've got those, you won't be getting the full benefit of NT's potential.
My main system as it is runs XP with a SATA hard disk. And despite the processor having an extra core, and having 2GB of memory installed, it's not nearly as responsive as it used to be when I had a cached (32MB) Ultra 160 SCSI controller with a Seagate Cheetah running the show.
Windows 7 is, however, still playing catchup with the Mac, the same as it's been doing since 1984.
My MacMini Core2Duo 1.83 with 1GB of memory is so much more usable than the Windows 7 and better able to multi-task, simply because the Apple OS is better able to make use of the resources it has.
I would always tell anyone that's fed up with Windows, and is unsure of whether to upgrade to 7 or not, that they'll just get the same problems they already have within 12 months of upgrading, and that they should try a Mac - go to an Apple Store and try one of the demo machines.
