Default Opinions on GT30 on standard YB?

thinking the saff needs some extra poke, what would a GT30 be like on a standard YB?

would it help fiitting a pair of BD10's and verniers, head gasket is WRC and is studded.

Head would benefit from being ported to reduce surge. It could be done without but might end up losing the mid range bang as the boost will have to be capped at low revs.

Air injector would be needed for boost control.

For the love of god don't put BD10s in, i've never yet found them to improve a car

With standard cams fitted ?

What would you preferred inlet be ? 4x4 or Small Turbo for instance ?

but why when its not really that hard and have 450ish ponies with 420ish pound foot with the same drivability as a t34. seems a no brainer to me!

been out in cossie richs many a time, the things a weapon and would eat most if not all t34 powered saffs for breakfast!!

The only weak point on a standard cossie is the bore wear and the oil lubrication system, everything else is strong enough to cope, but it depends on how much boost you're going to run and how hard you drive it.

Is Rich still on the 205 Block then too?? can,t remember tbh..

Mind you, my old Saff ran 456bhp on the 205 block without any problems and 400+ for a good few years before that.

Give it a try Andy i would.....

Andy, pretty sure you can run a bd 12 and 14 without the pocked pistons.

My engine has stock internals, has been fully rebuilt and i've just wacked a GT30 71 on there, well worth it imo it goes like the clappers

my engine block has had the oil ways modded to combat the lubrication issues bd14 inlet cam in there too

Personally I'd do it just simply from CossieRich's results alone.

If you were buying new I don't know why anyone would bother with a T34 anymore, great turbo's but totally dated by the roller bearing series turbos.

The ONLY reason I wouldn't use one is on a 205 block but then many have run a T4 on one so no reason why you shouldn't, like anything headwork and other mods really bring the turbo to life as they would a T34 although your talking a lot more power for realistically not a lot more money.
