Default RESTRUCTURING...Another name for redundancies?

had a Company wide meeting on Friday stating they are restructuring and the management painted a VERY rosey picture.

I on the other hand was very sceptical and have been saying it to colleagues for months now that it is going to happen here and lo and behold we had confirmation meetings this morning stating that one person in our dept is on for the chop.

Needless to say i am flipping fuming having devoted 6 years to this company.

But on the other hand its time for a change but just didnt think it would happen like this.

Oh well not the first time I have been made redundant by this company.

Only thing is we have to apply back for our old jobs and no one knows whos head is on the block. However, having seen the way things get dealt with in this company it would be of no surprise to me if they haver already chosen who they want and where.

Sorry for the rant, you guys probably dont understand what im trying to say but nevertheless I need to get it off my chest.

Couldnt happen at a worse time, round the corner from xmas and my old man loses his job in decemeber too

restructuring will mean some will be going. hopefully you wont be one .it could be a good time for the company to offload long term employees on older more expensive contracts through voluntary redundancies rather than forced redundancies for the masses.

I finish this Friday after working a 4 week notice period.

Again down to 'restructuring' to add insult to injury I left a job of 8 years to last in the other for 18months...

i been with this company for 6 years and to be honest with the proposed changes Im not sure I really want to be hear anyway.

In hte process of updating my CV and get it back out there - im sure something willl come up, even if it means contracting.

On the other hand if i do go it will atleast give me time to work on my own projects.

just a shit situation to be in.

On a lighter note, Im glad im still not running a cossie given the circumstances

I was/am a victim of "reconstructing", the section of the company I worked for was sold off and relocated and I was made redundant as a result of the change. As other have said, I left a very stable position at my previous employers to go for that job, it lasted all of 12 months.

Still not managed to find any work a full 2 months on.

Big-Dan.

Yep our Company has 'restructured' a couple of times this year (last year we were told before Xmas and didn't find out until February who their would no longer be a job for).

Good luck

Same here mate.
I left a job of 7 years for a new job where the owner asked me to go and work for him.
He promised better wages, free run of the garage after 5pm etc.
Being very close to my house, I took him up on the offer and after only a matter of months, he laid 2 of us off

dont work for network rail - work a s web developer for a large online streaming company - chances are if you support football I have more than likely worked on their club website. We mainly do sporting websites

I have been here for 6 years and the only reason i have not left before (well except for the redundancy they gave me when i first started) is due to not leaving a steady job and going into an uncertain one.

Dont know who it is for sure but I have my suspicions that it "could" be me - not definate but i dont want to put all my eggs into one basket.
