I'm after an oil pressure gauge, doesn't have to be fancy or anything, electric or the other (whichever is easiest to plumb in) but it needs to have all the necessary bits to fit it straight on if poss, anyone got any suggestions?
As cheap as poss as I'm skint after Xmas

Like the look of the Race Tech gauges, cheers for that, might give them a ring in a few days and see what bits I'd need to plumb it straight in

i have to disagree , ive had too many bad experiances with elecric sender uinit dealing me duff info when i realy needed it , like OH FUCK NO OIL PRESSURE in the middle of a stage
but , my guages even tho they are capillery are very accurate , unlike most electric units , but i never fit the nylon pipework that comes with the guages i always use ptfe with nylon overbraid and pukka fittings not teh cheap brass push on crap items

i just fitted a higher value oil pressure switch, because i really didnt fancy a face full of hot oil and i know electrical senders can be misleading.

I just prefer having oil in the engine and not in a pipe next to your leg.
A burst pipe or guage (as has been known to happen) is not good on a road car to clean up. A competition car isn't too bad, just wipe the excess off and the rest is anti-corrosion!![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
As it happens, my new engine management monitors oil pressure and I can set it to flag up a warning if it drops to a certain level or cut the car out completely if it drops even lower..

m8s got an electric senders type and as soon as his ignitions on ie b4 the engine starts turning it's reading oil pressure in the engine and once he had really low oil and the gauge was showing
but when we pulled up the top end (cam followers) were well noisey on start up(Cossie) checked the dip stick and there was none on the stick
so personal choice comes into play I think

a pressure guage is not designed to tell you when you need or dont need oil , by default it will do this , but thas only when it has no more lubricant to decide what pressure it at .
i can also never understand why people remove the oil pressure lamp and replace it with a guage
![Confused](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
what is the easiest thing to see if you suspect a problem ? its not looking at a guage ( that aint accurate anyway cause you paid less than the price of gallon of oil for it) and trying to decide if its on 0.5bar or 1bar, whilst at speed going round a corner . all you need is a high pressure switch and a warning lamp.
