the prop centre bearing used to go every couple of months on my bmw. due to the conversion set up a previously simple job now required the removal of the exhaust, driveshafts and diff to slide the prop out the t5. a 1 hour job was now most of the day. 3 times in one year as well.

MGF/TF as it takes 20 mins just to get to the engine. Best job was removing the engine and box from a 99 passat. the whole front end comes of the car with only about 10 bolts. makes working on the car so much easer.

Testing the future
the magic tree - it takes ages to remove the old one from the rear view mirror and slide the packet off the new one and hang it up
if you ever want a tricky job, try changing air con components as most of them are built into the bodyshell before the powertrain is fitted. as an example the air con compressor on a 5.0 jag xkr - workshop book says it's an engine and transmission out job or even worse, change the evaporator as that is a dash out job which is easier on the convertible than the coupe. range rover is not particular nice to work on either.

Did a heater matrix on a 306.. never again. after i put the dash back in the fucker wouldnt run properly again. sold it on for peanuts and apparently the new owner has it running now.

the dash comes off in bout a million and one pieces, then its a case of getting the heater box completely out, which sits behind a reinforcement beam
rs turbo boxes are easy on a ramp, just a pain on the floor, on your own!
steer clear of BMW e36 rear wheel bearings

without doubt the worst ever is the alternator on a 24v v6 mondeo, took me 8 hours and had to remove a driveshaft for access! you need 4 long extension bars to reach the top bolt!
would rather set fire to the car than do that again
Mind you a close second is putting a 2.0 pinto in to a 100E that only took 9 years lol

Engine is still in there. Cut one of my torx`s 40 bits right down to undo the timing belt covers, with the Engine mount off to allow the Engine to move up and down. Should be putting it back together tomz. Great! lol.
