Would say its a GEM problem, a module which controls most electronics things such as audible "Lights On" charm and central locking.

BTW earthing the wire on the body will actually complete the circuit and switch the light on as when you close the switch IE open the door this is all it does.

Does sound like a door isn't shut properly and thats why it can't be locked by CL although would think this would be a door lock problem on one of the two doors.

Does sound like a GEM fault as I said, with door switch when you take it out this will switch light off.

I would help you out if you want buy your not that local to me.

It doesn't have a GEM.

A friend of mine had a similar problem on a fiesta turbo, turned out to be corrosion/broken wiring within the wiring loom between door and body of the car.

Oh fair enough, thought it would like most modern Fords, I presume the wireing on your friends car was chaffed and earthed?
