round my way they don't often chase joyriders, but rather wait till the morning.

Less dangerous apparently?

Its easy mate. Bloody health and safety idiots have heavily restricted them now. One or two fatal accidents with police chases was what done it. Pathetic response by the bureocrats as usual.

They are required to call off chases for a number of safety reasons.

So of course the thiefs know this and thier response is to drive like total cunts and they know if they drive dangerously enough then the police will back off.

IMO that actually risks more lives as the thieves will deliberately drive more recklessly hence more risk.

IMO police should NEVER back down in chases. NEVER!!!

If thieves know the police will never back down regardless of how dangerous they drive then many of them will give up as they wont want to end up dead or with multiple other charges such as manslaughter etc.

The problem is that wont stop the teen joyriders as a lot of the thrill comes from the chase and many joy riders genuinely believe they wont be hurt/killed and believe they are better drivers than the cops

I agree totally. If an innocent pedestrian is killed by a vehicle during the chase, whether by the police car or the joyrider car, the joyrider gets prosecuted for that death as a murder.

Just a shame CPS don't agree mate. LOTS & LOTS of restrictions.

I've known some very high up police officers stating that pursuits must never be allowed under any circs.
