Hi Ricky,
You need to resit a driving test in a modified car, done this myself and it CAN be passed as you have the same amputation as I have. Speak to the medical team at DVLA and they will sort you out. You need to tell your insurance people but only out of courtesy...they will make a note of it but CANNOT increase your policy cost. I STILL drive my 3 door without ANY modifications and it's fine....get a few funny looks when I pull up for fuel and I'm wearing shorts !!!!! You need to get your leg made and fitted first though, make sure you keep doing any exercises given by the physios as this will make EVERYTHING easier. The more you do now even though it seems weird does benefit....

Will send you a PM later today. If you need ANYTHING let me know and I'll do what I can for you.

Regards Stebbo

DMB or Drivers Medical Branch at Swansea deal with this stuff, so address to them, it will get sorted sooner.
As I had a declared disability I had to take a disabled test, in a car with no modifications at all, not needed for my disability, but test lasted from 14:00 to 17:15.
I was told all this crap about limited license etc, as it turned out it was all crap, as far as my case went.
Hope you get on well, and good point above about insurers not being able to load for disability.
