Default stolen/recovered

been looking at a stolen/recovered focus, the new shape one, only problem is it has no keys, there is no ign damage so presume they took the keys as well, but my question is if i took the chassis number to fords would they be able to supply a coded key from this as other wise its a case of getting new ecu, speedo, and matching key isnt it? also does the ecu control the ford alarm as well? any idea on price of key?

It may also be worth while contacting the previous owner when you get the logbook through to see if they still have some keys for it, ive known people get service historys & spare keys this way before.

Nick, if you go to Ford you might find all they will allow you to do is change the ecu etc etc.

I bought a 306XSI that had been stolen on the key and Peugeot wouldn't do anything except change the ecu etc, well over a grand to do. Luckily I contacted the previous owner and they could remember the code. It came with a key but no-one knew the code, so I put the code in and it started first time after not being started for 2 years! Brilliant car as well.

as been said - ford diagnostics at a dealer should be able to do this. If they refuse then its a policy issue not because they cant do it.

Also when they program the key make sure ALL other keys/remotes have been wiped.

And of course the fact that all they're interested in is screwing as much money out of us as possible.

yes but are your local ford dealers also required by FMC to supply certain services and facilities to meet the standards to call themselves an official ford dealer??? if so im sure alarm diagnostics and key replacement/recoding will be in that list somewhere.

Ive found with ford dealers you need to make it known to them that you know your onions, then they are less inclined to try and screw you.

I'd rather just push a raw onion up them, some of the treatment I've had in the past.
