Default When does a car show as stolen recovered?

A Mate's Car has been recovered after being nicked. Wasn;t driven very far at all. Obviously the locks will have to be changed and some minor damage repaired by the insurance.

Will this then show as stolen/recovered when someone runs a check on it?

Some people are saying it's only if the insurance have paid out a total loss and then the car is recovered, others are saying it's if the insurance pay out anything related to the theft.

I think it only comes up on stolen recovered if the insurance was paid out and the car's identity had been fiddled with. I'm not sure on that though

You're right. It's only shown as stolen recovered if the underwriters have paid out on it, then it's recovered.

So even if they have paid for minor repairs and a new set of keys/locks plus a courtesy car it shouldn;t show as stolen recovered?

if it's been mising for long enough to get a pay out, and then it turns up, it technically belongs to the insurance company, and because they've paid out, it'll be on the books as having been stolen

the recovered bt is if it's been recovered after the payment has been cleared as it's all official
