Default £150 for my evo back????????

and no,not like before!i got a letter saying they found nothing in forensics,so i called to get it back,"yes sir its here,if youre not claiming on insurance thatll be £150 please"
WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT???????
i wasnt informed of ANY charges before hand and could have had it towed myself as i have my own recovery service,or i could have simply hot wired it and driven off!!!!
so i eventually got through to several people on the phone and made a formal complaint to the cops, and lo and behold, because i wasnt advised of any charges i can have it back for free.
but it grinds my gears that i should have paid to have my car released because they wanted to investigate a crime!!!!!!what exactly are our taxes for??
so my advice,if youre car is stolen/recovered and they ask to take it away...say NO!!!!
rant over, pics up later of the aftermath!

Had exactly same thing about a year ago, we had a mk5 rs2000 we bought cheap of fleecebay, had it sitting outside the flat, one night, it disappeared, i hunted everywhere for it, and eventually found it literally 50 metres from the block, in another blocks car park across the road.
Rang police as they had bent door and thought they might come back, they sent recovery round to get car as they wanted to finger print it, then tried to charge us to get it back, had the same arguement and they gave it back free in the end.

when i worked at a ford dealers that recovered crashed, stole, impouneded etc etc everyone had to pay lol

sometimes even if you had insurance we would be told to take it then people would go to court then tell the magistrates they wanted their money and it would be done that way (so they told me)

often we would take the same car a few times and the same people would be back time and time again

used to crush good cars but not til i'd smashed em up and taken what i fancied

got it back last night, had to htwire it.proved that alarms, even cat 1 alarms are worthless.rip the alarm out,rip out ignition barrell, use the bit at the end of the barrel to make the car live, then go and touch the alarm wires together, hey presto, car starts!!!!!
anyway,heres some pics of it

cracked rear spoiler and high level brake light hanging loose

the loose wires where alarm was "removed"

me taping the wire ends to prevent arcing while driving

view through the smashed window showing smashed glass on seat (how he drove it like this i dont know!)

and how nice it was beforhand!!!!

but at least it seems to drive ok,and the thieves completely missed a few bits i had in the car.
ah well, itll be sorted soon im sure, glad its all over now!

my mate had his evo 2 stolen a while ago, they busted all the usual bits and got the car away,he got the car back through a "friend" and at the time i had got a proton persona from a customer for free.Everything from the persona fitted the evo, steering column etc, even the door fitted

hope this helps you because i think if you phone a breakers for the bits they will prob pump you cause its an evo

was the alarm just obviously visable on the engine bay?? I know they usually put sounders in engine bay but youd hope theyd put alarm computer boxes somewhere harder to get to!!!

I hope youve got some new security plans, preferably fitted by you hidden away where you want deliberately awkward for thieves.
