Default what head gasket should i use

mild tuned rs pushing for 220 bhp so what gasket and head bolts do you recommend

ive use A.R.P head bolts before no probs however i now have a standard ford head gasket and bolts no prob at all.

well karl has the same advice as stu on this one too so thats a good choice


i know a few cars running big bho on standard head bolts and head gasket


thats how mine was done too

Stick a standard one and an arp one under a magnifying glass and look at the threads and you will see the difference in quality.

Standard ones may well be good enough of course though, and no point spending the extra money on a better gasket if a standard one isnt at risk of failure, i have a habbit though of ending up running nitrous on every engine i own at some point, so i always like to over engineer head gaskets.

ARP wont ever be inferior to a standard unit unless its installed wrongly, sometimes you need to not torque them up as hard as the bolt can take in order to not crush the fire ring on the gasket, providing you do that, you wont get a problem.

they take less torque to do them up for the same amount of clamping pressure, so you need to do them up less than standard in some cases and a lot of people dont realise that.
