It is possible to do without a press, but you do risk damaging the new bearing by hammering it in.

Depending how long the old one has been in there too it could be very tight! The bearings i've done at work have often taken as much as 5 tonnes of pressure to get them shifting.

Wouldn't bother trying, just take leg to garage to get pressed; would rather pay a few quid than struggle for hours.
As said saves any possible damage too.

If you can get the old one out, then;

New bearing in the freezer for a couple of hours and the hub in the oven @ 100c for 20mins.

They should go together fairly easily

I've done 2 with no press fairly easily. Just use a brass drift to tap the new ones in.

Must be a damn sight slacker than the cavalier one I tried years ago, never again.

You only need to tap the 2 outer races in, as they are the split type ones. The one piece jobbies like the mk5 escort are a coooooooooooont!! lol

once you remove the outer part of the old bearing
you can then use that against the new one and drift it back in without damging your new one .....
much better than using a flat-blade and a mallet ...and lots of bloody knuckles hehehe
no heat and no freezer lark job done

as above says ^^^ most old fords use 2 seperate bearing races these are much easier to fit d.i.y lol
your newer cars use a single massive bearing .....
with these they ARE press fit bearings lol!!!
