St220 humming noise
Hi all
New on here and hoping for some advice.
I have a model ST220 2003. Petrol 3.0ltr.
I have a noise from front which sounds like a wheel bearing but isn't as both have been replaced as have the discs and pads. I have also just replaced both tyres. Noise is prominent and defiantly in drive train somewhere. At speed if you dip clutch noise persists which would suggest it's not clutch related or perhaps gearbox related....any thoughts?
Cheers

St220 humming noise
Is there a driveshaft bearing on the front? Normally fords have it on the o/s/f driveshaft (the longer one) halfway down the shaft, I know some fords used to suffer with that bearing wearing and getting noisy, not sure if the mondeo has it though

I haven't checked...it definately seems like it's osf in fact right under my feet..I thought the fact brakes were metal to metal was the cause only to road test and damn hum to still to persist

Nobody has ever posted a solution to this humming , spoke to a mechanic and
the intermediate bearing on driveshaft is mentioned but nothing definite.
Still seeking a solution after 4 years on 2.5L v6 engine.

Changed intermediate bearing on the driveshaft and still hums having done both wheel bearings and new goodyear tyres .i suspect the gearbox bearings.also changed gearbox oil.

Could well be the diff bearings. Although after 4 years you'd have expected them to have shit their selves already.
Is the noise rev related or road speed related?

It hums at 20mph in gear and in neutral, rear wheel hub bearings both renewed seemed
to improve with new tyres on front but after few miles hum returned.
Revving makes no difference or different road surfaces, just at 20 mph front
end engine hums to vibrates.
Not moosing

Any decent mechanic could diagnose that in 10 mins mate the bearings are easy to check and there are only 5, tyres for castleation then that leaves cv joints or gearbox, get it on a ramp and run it up in gear I've changed drive shafts on them for vibration
