Personally I think a private plate is only worth having if it's really good. A wanna be plate is a wanna be plate.

C16 0SY would be worth fuck all to a tight cunt like me, but I'm sure someone will tell you it's worth a grand.

I'd guess around £200-400?
If you don't mind waiting you'll find someone who will pay more

Those 10 D**OSY plates have been on DVLA site for around 6-7 years (since they released the D regs). If they only managed to shift D12 OSY in that time and every other one is still there, that suggests to me that they're worth a lot less than the £490 they're trying for...

but they dont spell cosy and there aren't any B**osy so my guess they got snapped up and would have been at around 500.

Fact is is someone has a cosy and want a private plate, then it isn't a bad one to have. Considering a boggo plate will set you back 200 notes, having one like cosy will fetch more money.

As said, it is what someone is willing to pay I guess and if you hold out, you'll get a reasonable price.

Yep! Those websites give you a valuation (probably based one the ONE similar plate they sold god knows when) and advertise them for you, but that's no guarantee that's what it's actually worth to someone, just means someone paid a similar amount for a similar plate.

I once bought a motor with what a thought was a decent private plate, got a valutaion from a company (£500 iirc), they advertised it on their website and i thought i'd just sit back and wait for the money to roll in, and i did, for fucking ages!! Found out some time after that the guy i bought the car off had it on the same website for 3 years without selling it! Another sound investment there!

If it's genuinely worth money companies will offer a cash sale in most cases, i know that now
