its not a super car is it.its a mk2 focus 3 door that you can go to the shops in,drive across europe,take it to a race track,probably maintain it yourself,get luggage in the back and still look good doing it.ford done a super car,the gt40,this is a hot hatch for the masses and if it was rwd in this day and age it would have some cissy traction control system that stopped any hooliganism so theres no point in it being rwd,the 4x4 transmission would absorb more power and make the car weigh more and possibly give reliability issues like most 4wd performance cars do so theres no point in that either.ford has made a great car that is good on all levels,look at other cars in its class,a v6 golf caravan puller,astra vxr,megane etc.if ford were to make a scooby chaser it would probably be the mondeo and then folk would moan its too big,too heavy.maybe folk should be thankful ford has started making rs's again and as for the idea of ford putting the 300 bhp rs engine into a fiesta,why would they do that?the folk who could afford the insurance would probably not buy a fiesta because its a young persons car and too small.they have to make a car that appeals to as many people as possible as they are a company in buisness to make money,not cars that go sideways in halfords car park or for chasing scoobys up the bypass.

if you want a hot hatch buy a vw golf mk1/mk2 gti or a peugot 205 gti!! the new focus looked wallowy round the bends,and it nearly went of the track a few times.
it got dicked by a shitty renault with less power,ok the renault weighs less but its puttin out far less power,and it won.but its still a bag of shit,did any1 see how flimsy the body was and the windows?that wasnt a car its a chassis surrounded by paper.

Sorry but Rwd is far far better than Fwd, hence why ALL serious cars are RWD or 4x4..... Don't get me wrong I love a good hot hatch, but fwd will ultimatly limit any car.

Some people seem to forget what Major car makers have to do to get a new car to a point where it will sell and make them money.
It has to meet the current strict crash standards
It has to meet the current strict emissions standards
It has to return an acceptable MPG
It has to be capable of being safely driven by anyone with or without a driving licence anywhere in the World on any type of road without leading to Court proceedings from people who crash it.
It has to be reliable in any climate, anywhere in the World, anywhere from the Sahara to Siberia.
It has to serviceable at a reasonable price and be able to miss a couple of services and not fail.
It has be attractive to buyers from many countries with many different tastes and requirements.
A 20 year old modified car won't meet many of the above criteria.

i dont think the renault shouldnt be excluded for using toyo r888's ? there no different to the m3csl, 997gt2, gt3rs using michelin cups.. which i beleive feature on the board ! there just amazing in dry weather.. but then there just plain nasty in the wet or cold.. plus they last about 5000 miles lol
