Default Laptop pc help needed please

I have been asked to fix a HP compq 6720s
The problem being,on boot up i get "PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable" error msg.

I belive after many hours of trawling the 'net that its a boot up problem where the pc is trying to boot from a network.

I have altered the boot up order to make sure that there is no network before optical drive or HDD but still i get the error msg.

I have also purchased a new HDD today to replace maybe the faulty one, but proved wrong on this aswell, plus the self test on the hdd proved ok.

Any help on this i would be greatfull for

From HP Support Website: Unsure if you have done this.

RESOLUTION
For a succesful PXE boot, perform either of the following:
  • Manually change the PXE link speed as follows:
  1. During the Power-On Self Test (POST), press CTRL+S when the LAN On Motherboard (LOM) that is attempting the PXE boot is bannered. The setup menu will be displayed.
  2. Select "Speed."
  3. Select "1000bps."
  4. Press the F4 key to save.
  5. Perform the PXE Boot.
OR
  • Flash the firmware of the HP NC373i Integrated Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter to an earlier version (boot code Version 1.9.6), using the HP Gigabit Server Adapter Firmware Upgrade Utility for c-Class Blades. Perform the following steps to obtain a version of the HP NC-Series Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility with a boot code Version 1.9.6:
  1. Click on the following URL:
    http://www.hp.com/support/nc373i
  2. Select the appropriate operating system.
  3. Select the Firmware-Network category.
  4. Select HP NC-Series Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility .
  5. Click on Revision History .
  6. Click on Release Notes (locate boot code Version 1.9.6).
  7. Select a version of the HP NC-Series Broadcom Online Firmware Upgrade Utility with a boot code Version 1.9.6 and click the "Download" button.
