Default Controlling anger?

What do people recomend?

As most of you know I'm going through a very rough patch in my life and I'm finding my temper is scaring me. I'm terrified I'm going to do something really stupid and end up in a lot of trouble for it.

I've always been so placid and laid back but i'm feeling rage and hatred that I never thought I was capable of.

I'm not an angry person so can't comment, but just wanted to say sorry to hear about the break up... just keep chilled mate. Getting worked up etc won't achieve anything!

I go to the gym and do MMA. It gets a lot of my anger out and makes me more in control.

The only problem with it is, when I lose it, I lose it ten times as bad. If i feel myself getting angry about something when I'm at home, I usually go for a run, and just keep going til I forget what I;m angry about.

Thought about speaking to your doctor about it and getting anger management classes?! may help.

Failing that taking on something u can exert alot of anger into like boxing etc might be helpful?!

You'd be surprised how shit those classes really are. And doctors here, just instantly prescribe Prozac.

My gf was going to them before i met her and when we started going out, tbh she didnt really find them useful either but obviously may work for some people!! Deff dont take any meds for it thou as it just masks the problem rather than curing it!

As said thou some sort of physical activity you really have to push yourself hard is deff a good option and a good way of getting fit too!

I think excercise is a great way to release anger. Whatever situation you find yourself in that makes you really angry, you must try really hard to remove yourself from that situation before it escalates and gets out of hand and you do something you will regret. I know it is hard when you are faced with the situation, but just try really hard to walk away and get out of the house etc, go for a run or brisk walk, even talk out loud whilst running or walking to get it off your chest!!! Sounds daft but it can really help!

Get yourself a punch bag fella, they're great for getting it out of your system.

I totally agree. I've got a real quick temper - real quick - and when I blow up everyone gets out the way as when I get the red mist nothing stops me. It scares me sometimes too.

But the best thing I ever did was start training. Had a bad day - down the gym and get it all out safely and in an environment that's designed to do just that.

BMX, punch bag, shisha....that's my routine, and been seriously tense lately.

Going off whats been going on you need someone neutral to chat with too mate, any thrash in the world will only be a quick quick fix otherwise.

As above punch bag is probably one of the best ways of relieving anger...

Working out is good, going on the piss really isn't. I got a nice patch of wall I smack when angry, otherwise I just wind the hell outta people instead...funny!

Polishing the car or bike works for me

Or, going out with mates, socialising etc more......although this starts getting expensive.
