Forgive me if im wrong Rod but the "Task in hand " as you put it wasnt about beating your record but was about getting down good overall times and speeds which i feel deserves a big well done for their efforts, if they all had your wallet then id say they Would have the gearing to do "the task" if that was what they wanted No dig at all i must say but more just to point out the fact its not about beating your record

Mike i remember when u ran a t34 out of its map and said there is nothing wrong with it.
On a lighter note mine runs full boost to limiter on a t34 and feels faster than if it don't, times have also proved this....
Guess your scs dot to dot book is almost complete now and your a tuner with the complete picture LOL

shame i never got to try out the 3.6 diff steve fitted for me 180 was on the cards but since i sold the car two weeks ago, it would be hard to drive it
still nice to asked! not lol
new car on the way

why oh why is every one on here so interested in the top speed of the cars at the thrash is top speed every thing??????
after a thrash you all always complain about why the top cars wasnt there, a lot of pepole were invited but there cars were broke or not ready ROD was there and didnt want to run his car (i cant knock that as he has done his time)
and most of the cars are only as fast as there owners say they are anyway (still to be proven )

can i just repeat what i said to answer pms to me
IT WAS NOT ABOUT TOP SPEED ALONE!!
AND.......................
Tib ran a 11 second qtr on standard gearing and with under 500bhp. Gearing doesnt make all fast cars fast

Danny,
Sorry to disagree, but it IS all about the correct gearing / power / traction for the job in hand.
A10 COS,
A 3.36 diff is really too tall to achieve your car's top speed within the confines of Bruntingthorpe (I know, as this is what I did my 180mph runs with, where it would have have probably achieved 185 with standard gearing due to the fact that my power did not tail off until after 7500 rpm).

To answer all questions in turn:
Matt: "No Porkie"? Porkie was told he was more than welcome to come and run his car to which he declined.
Mike: "No invite". I've been waiting for you to tell me your cars finished for AGES now - as several emails to you to this effect: "Hi Mike, thanks for this really appreciate it...yeah course we'll be interested in it (& timing it?). When's it gonna be feature ready?" show. To be honest I didn't really think thrashes were your thing now... so sorry I didn't invite you mate. I will next time. (Just so I know, if I had invited you yesterday would you have run?).
Matt: As far as all this Dingy business and old skool stuff goes I've refrained from answering so far as it's a load of bollocks. I turned MY mates away from this thrash with old skool motors and there was no talk of a Mk2 coming, I didn't want old skool stuff in this thrash. The guy who turned up with the Mk2 on the day was meant to be bringing an Escort Cossie RWD which unfortunatley had problems the day before the thrash. He turned up with the Mk2 and I wasn't going to turn him away after driving from dahn Sarf. It's not some wierd conspiracy against Ding, he knows we want his and Tims car on the cover for a REALLY good feature that will make them happy and us proud, and I'm still waiting for him to give me a date.
Karl: "What was the selection criteria?" I aim to answer yours and indeed many peoples questions / comments on this point. Basically, the criteria for an invite was a) cars which were ready - this year we weren't gonna fuck around waiting for people umming an ahhing whether their car would be ready or not. B) cars which would actually run on the day - people turning up with their cars and not running has been the bane of our thrashes over the last few years and we weren't prepared for this to happen this year. Why turn up and not run?
Which "BIG NAME" cars would people have liked to see? Karls? We have invited Karl in the past where he has turned up and not run. Secondly he was there on the Monday and expressed no interest on running his car on the Tuesday.
Rods? Rod was there and was given the opportunity to run but didn't run for his own reasons - that's his decision.
Porkies? I have covered this further up in this thread.
What other "BIG NAME" cars are there that are ready????
We knew Martin J had sold his car - so why waste ours and his time calling him to invite him?!
I would also like to cover another comment expressed by several people on this post that proves my point. Phil IMA and others have said, "Well I didn't get an invite. If I did I couldn't have run but it would have been nice to be asked."
WHAT ARE YOU ALL MOANING ABOUT THEN?! This proves my point - why are we gonna run around like headless chicken calling loads of people to come if they're not going to attend / run? I'd rather have ten very quick cars attend a thrash and all run than 15 "BIG NAME" cars that either don't turn up or turn up and just stand around saying they're not going to run.
This brings me on to Mikes silly comment about me / Scotty. I invite Scotty every year because I can always be assured that he will turn up with a quick car, and run all day long (and also keep people entertained whilst waiting around). THAT'S what we want and that's what a thrash is ALL about - inviting people who we know a) have a quick car, and b) more importantly, are GOING to bloody run!
Anyway, thanks to those who thanked us for a good day (Sticker Paul, Sean, Brom, Scotty, Pete, Neil etc.) and our hard work.

Stuart & jon jon were their. Stuart in the Mk2 & jon jon in his M3, These guys are legends on the streets around Basingstoke & although im not into doing such things to my car these two guys can really drive, no doubt about that.
Stuart was geared for 144 max & with 550brake in a mk2 had absolutely no grip at any point in time . His times were pants for that reason.
He enjoyed the show-boating.

to be honest mate there's no minimum bhp - we've had some cars turn up with 330bhp that have surprised 'big' bhp cars before! (remember when martin h ran VERY quickly in his car on greens?!) It just kind of depends what else is there on the day mate
Cheers,
Ben
