Well becuase of the design of the T4, he would / should have realised that more boost would give considerably higher ACTs and may have in fact reduced the amount of air flow .

How about if it was a really cold day in December it was being upped for though Mike
The headgasket has blown out at the front of cylinder number 1 (i.e. above the water pump) and is a failure that is associated with any dis-similar studded block. (I.e. failure caused by difference in clamping force between different methods of clamping)
Cylinder head clamping must be uniform and is why I never have recommended 6 long studding. Nutter's engine sadly adds to the ever growing list of failures I've seen on this type of head clamping.
I'm disapointed for nutter as he really wanted to crack 185mph today but only just made it into 5th gear when disaster struck.
Mike,
It certinaly doesnt hold 38psi to the limiter, is simply uses that for a midrange shove!
On position 12 for today I had mapped it at 40psi peak, 34psi held.
When the HG failed, I'd guess at position 7 it was running around 30 psi held.
Karl like the Cometic head gasket requires very careful installation to avoid blows, the long studs and outer 4 stretch bolts need special tensions!.....IMO of course......YB's are fooking wanky when tuned anyway
Ian,
You go outside the compressor map's efficiencies and you WILL lose power, irrespective of what you want to think. There is a lot more to it than just ACTs. I think I can feel a post brewing from Stu to explain this in depth .
Karl,
You can run as much boost as you like, but you know as well as I do, that once you push a turbo too hard you get deminishing returns, to the point that you would probably get the same or even more power at a lower pressure .
Fook off Mike..why would you say 1st gear only It couldnt physically get to 2.5bar in first gear..ROFL ...... PLEASE PHONE HARVEY FIRST BEFORE REPLYING
its about having the bottle to break as late as poss, i know the 500 will do 180, but me and the old man break to early all the time. it is so annoying
