Default Car alarm recommendations?

I need to get an alarm fitted to my XR4i for the insurance and want recommendations.

The car is unlikely to be left unattended anywhere, so I don't want to spend a fortune, but would like it to include remote central locking for both doors - the hatch is delocked so doesn't need any central locking unless I could get a remote popper for the solenoid?

(The standard central locking might work but could take some figuring out as I have a Mk2 loom with Mk1 locks, catches and handles)

I had a Viper 480xv fitted by EvolutionICE up here and had no complaints at all... IIRC, Gav told me that Viper is actually a part of Clifford but you're not paying for the name.

Depending on where you are in Scotland, he will come to your work or home and fit it for you as well.

Cheers,
Grant

I would have a Toad Ai606 given the choice.

Great alarm imo. Had 5 altogether and no probs with any of them!

Had a Clifford on my series 2 and absolutely fucking hated it!!

Haha yea had a Clifford Concept 50x think it was on my S2... and it did my tits right in, going off, water getting into siren unit, etc.

I'd never fit another Clifford alarm after that. Have also had a couple of Toad Ai606 on cars and although they're a bit boring looking (with less features as standard) compared to the Viper I had fitted, they are just as reliable and do the job just as well.

Cheers,
Grant

Agree with that. He's coming to fit a new alarm & immobiliser to my S1 on Monday. Heard nothing but good things about him. Obviously I'll let you know better on Monday night.

i'm same as you, car is never left anywhere and my garage is alarmed, just really need it for insurance purposes. Says he's been fitting the viper for years and has never once had any problems with them.

Decent price as well.
