Normally disconnecting the battery for half an hour does the trick!

I find it hard to beleive that putting 95rom fuel would put the light on.
Unless its been remapped so badly its detting its tits off but this shouldnt happen as its got closed loop ignition timing.
Its more likely you have a fault... !

Get someone with Vag-com to have a look at what error code its chucking out to cause the EML light to come on.

it was running 100% and not sure if its ben remapped yet as he's only had it a couple of days but drained the tank on his omega (very cheap 95ron) and as soon as he did that the light came on!

just want to reset everything to see if it clears the code now its got 98 in it, if not then will have to do futher investigation

The EML needs to be reset via either a VAG computer (50/50, 50/51B, 15/51 etc) or any good scanner (MAC or Snap-On).

As far as I know there isnt a surefire way to reset it without one of the above.

Even if the light does go out after the battery is disconnected, the fault will still be more than likely stored in the ECU.

What fault code has come up?

As mentioned above, it is unlikely that using the 95RON fuel would have caused the light to come on. There are many things that can cause the light to come on these cars.

any way of displaying the fault codes on the dash without a scanner? i know on vaux's you stick paper clip into the diag port and it flashes the light to say what fault code.

it could be a coinsidence that it came on but it was very very quick comming on after the cheap fuel was put in!

I dont know of any way to manually pull out a code from the ECU and I worked as a technician for a SEAT main dealer for 4 years.

Only way is by VAG computer or scanner.
