Default Seized Breaks....

Hiya folks.

Whats the best way to unseize breaks on a car thats been stood for a bit?.

Rear drums I can take care of I will strip those down and sort out, but the front calipers seem to be seized off, (rears seized on)......

Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry mate,

I would try soaking a bit of WD40 into the calipers - but I would expect that you will need new seals, and if they are that bad to not come on, they might be scrap

Dont worry about the rears, i know how to sort them (drums), its the front calipers Im not sure where to start with.

Cheers Steve, Simon W (used to own lee's saff) will probably be reconning them for me....as he can do um , but it'd be nice to drive the car there (and since hes a copper, theyd probably be best working to some degree lol)

they will need to be stripped and rebuilt new seals etc

the pistons will have rust and mank on them ian @ godspeed put mine on a lathe and then used some wet and dry and wd 40 to dremove the grime he shot blasted the actual calliper then put all back together with new rubber seals.

i told you about this

your gonna have to spend money phil lol

I drove this car yesterday and the brakes were frightening to say the least.

Mine wont cost much really, not calipers anyhow, its the same 4pots used on R33GTSTs, 300ZXs, and S14 200SXs, so pretty common second hand.

The R32GTR disks are different tho and not cheap from what ive seen.

Might be an option to get some kind of Zoo custom brake setup sorted if mine need any real money spending on em as they only 290mm vented+drilled disks (as std) and Nissan 4pots, they not that great.
