Default Bypassing works internet security...

Is there a way that I can bypass our works new internet security so that I can access websites that normally wouldnt let me. Since Scansafe has been deployed across the network I have been unable to access avforums and photobucket!! I'm sure there used to be a website you can go to which routes it in such a way that it allows it through?

Any ideas?

Cheers
Chris

no disrespect, if its blocked by your employer he has probably done so for a reason circumventing it may be in that case considered gross misconduct.

Given the current economic climate its probably not the wise thing you can do.

But if you can decide to ger around it use a proxy or login to your pc at home and surf from there

Its not so much against misconduct etc as they allow facebook, yahoo, hotmail through, just some random sites that should be fine are blocked - even the ft.com (financial times) was blocked and its a global bank with 73k employees!!!!!!

From home was my next step, but am sure there used to be websites available where you go to, enter the url within that and it routes it through via the site?

there are loads of proxy websites around however some have been accused of harvesting data and user information which could be an issue on a corporate pc

I would suggest take the action of requesting these sites be unblocked or at least finding out the policy or reasoning behind this.

On a corporate pc I would rather surf though my own pc rather than a unknown proxy website

RDP to a home machine and do it that way.

Proxy avoidance could well be gross misconduct.

unless, as at my place, use of logmein, gotomypc etc are also classed as gross misconduct except for certain users.

What's wrong with using a good smart phone (like HTC Touch HD) with free web access? That's what I do when the proxy is playing up

we aren't allowed to access certain bits of the internet so we don't

and if we try to they get logged with the IT deptarment who then send the men in coats to find out why we've been trying to look at pictures we shouldn't be

Surely your paid to work not surf the net??? If its a site you need for work then get that site unblocked. Anything else like net access for breaks/lunch is a privilege so you need to negotiate with your boss then.

believe it or not, there are some sites which we do need for work but they won't allow us to access do to them requiring a flash plug in (or something along those lines)

but seeing as no one is allowed to no one can

luckily enough for me, i live close enough to home so that i can nip back, or i can call teh mrs if she's at home to look it up for me

but now i'm just waiting for someoen to arrive back who's stuck in the snow, and i've GOT to be here and not just lounging at home so i am

otherwise i'd be at home not getting paid, not on the internet and only popping back to open a door

PhotoBucket and PF were blocked at my place. I went and spoke to our IT man and bribed him with coffee and snacks from the machine and the sites became unblocked. Magic.
