Half of the stuff on your list you don't need and tbh if your doing a xe conversion there are some sensible parts you want to fit if you want it to actually do the business rather than look the business.

Coilovers
Polybushes
Quaife ATB
16v Brakes (or V6) with ds2500 pads
ATE/Motul or SRF fluid
Braided brake lines
888's

I prefer to run them without a arb, I've done a sub 9 min lap in the Nova in my sig too and that was a stock xe in a car that handled alright, lacked 888's though so you could have a massive grip advantage over what I had back then.

Cage is sensible, kwik rack is a good mod, makes it far easier to drive on the limit, rose jointed tie bar brackets also made a nice difference on turn in.

With only 3 months to go I think you better get on the phone and starting spending some money

PS Drop me a PM as I can maybe help you with some of those parts

After all the piss taking about the thread title it just occured to me you said cheap

My list of parts don't really fall into the cheap category but rather than waste money on wide rims and arches I'd atleast try and do some of things on that list.

Your other option is to simply shop about as loads of people are selling novas/corsas at the moment so there are some bargains to be had if you have the cash.

What are your aims with the car?
I cant see the point of your list if the cars for the ring.
Most that stuff we dont even use when we rally.

knowing my driving proberly!
the cage is just something that i would like as i had a nasty crash in a nova many years ago and it folded big time so having a cage may help me feel abit more secure thus pushing a bit harder!

would like 2 get some slighty harder springs as the corsa i have has 4 new standard shocks, and i got 2 drive a xe corsa on standard shocks with slightly harder springs and for what it cost the lad it rearly felt good!

tyres- yer they are on the list but i forgot 2 add it on here! and the biger wheels are only as the car at present is a 900cc povety spec and its wheels are scary skinny!

The other bits on the list are all cheep as chips bits that will be going on just for laugh and well ........... i have never had a little track car!
only however if i get the time!

The aim is 2 do a sub 10min lap as its my first time at the ring and will be in a new untested car!

Johny- sub 9 min what spec is your nova??
v6 brakes??? do they bolt strait on? and what wheels do they fit under?
And the fluids, i completley forgot about uping some of the fuid specs (now on the list!!!)
What u got going ???

As for the title.................... pmsl i dint even notice!

My advice is,go there with a technical good car feel the atmosphere there and "learn" the track, maybe some passenger rides in some other cars and then make yourself a track car for next year

My car was a basic spec really

Stripped and welded SR shell, Polycarb windows, Sparco seats
Stock engine I was still running in the way over there
Stock manifold, with Ashley Group A system
F18 and Quaife ATB
Reyland 305mm discs, AP 4 pots, DS2500 pads, ATE blue fluid, Goodridge hoses
Solid engine mounts, rose jointed tie bar brackets
Spax RSX Coilovers, Eccentric top mounts, fully polybushed
Geometry set to Grp A Nova settings
16" Compomotive Mo's, 195/45/16 Yokahama A539's

Sounds a big spec but tbh for what the car achieved it showed what potential they can have.

I'd done 30+ laps at this point, the weather was always nice and I managed a 9.11, I got some tuition off a local guy and kept talking my way through the corners, lines and turn in points with all my passengers then when I did actually go for a flying lap I did a 8.55. The most noticable thing which my passenger at the time picked up on was how planted the car felt due to the tips I'd been given, there is so much to learn there and driving flat out everywhere is not the best way of getting round there quickly, as already mentioned just go there and enjoy yourself, Corsas do not go well in comparison to a nova and unless specced well it will be a handful and as you haven't had a xe corsa before you won't have the experience IMO to be pushing one to the limit, that car was my 3rd xe nova and I'd has them for over 4 years so I was more than comfortable driving it on the edge if needed.

V6 brakes will fit behind 15" wheels, pedal travel changes though and I found this unsettled the car under breaking so swapped for the AP's which although bigger had a nice initial bite which is all you need in a sub 800kg car

Not personally got anything for sale thats any use to you but if you want a LSD I have a good contact for new ones

Dug out a pic from the way home, a mate done the bottom end in his nova so I towed him back to England from the ring

just get any set of vaux alloys from a cavalier, or a set of 4 stud steels from an early vectra in 6x15 et49. anything else will scrub or not support the tyre or be the wrong offset.

Run 195/50 15 r888s.

Agree with jonlem, coilovers, polybushes, v6 spec 288mm brakes with good pads, braided lines and decent fluid.

Cage, seats, harnesses etc are up to the individual
