My other halfs civic vti is down as a cat c, when it only needs a bumper and two rear lights, not that the lights really need doing as they are only chipped on the bottom edge, it seemed a bit harsh to me.

Cat D's are lighter damage in the main, where as Cat C's are likely to have taken a good whack, maybe needing to be pulled straight etc??
Usually there is around 1/3 of the market value knocked off for a recorded car, just remember you will need to reflect this when selling.

Cat C appears on the V5, Cat D doesn't.
As for knocking off 1/3 the value, perhaps for Cat C but for Cat D? I don't think so. I think it's more that any listing will put off _some_ buyers completely, who wouldn't buy it whatever the cost.

cat c cars are quite often needing bumpers/lights etc
the quote about them being harder hit isn't the case,
i've seen stolen recovered/lock damage go cat c
seems that anything over 5/6 years old almost always goes cat c,
just trying to get the older cars of the road
i've seen cat d cars that need 1/4 panels and chassis legs jigged
and cat c cars that need a lock set, its nothing to do with the damage
its to do with the value
