No - if he car needs a vic check then you have to put it thru to get the v5 for the car... as the 38 quid you pay for the test gets the logbook sent to you... no VIC no V5... the vosa station puts the details and pass date etc on the computer and then this will generate your v5 for the car..

cat d comes with logbook... cat c no logbook .... usually .
