Cool cars but the 175mph top speed was never proven as far as i am aware. Autocar did a test with one and only got it to 169mph IIRC. Still awesome none the less.

More people would increase the top speed.
Always wanted one, some scary parts costs though.

Awesome cars! I very nearly bought one but bottled it at the last minute, mainly due to the high maintanance costs and the fact it was silly money for bits, even second hand ones. You think cossie parts go for silly money, but its nothing compared to these.

Omega's are the imports, LHD's from abroad.
That one at Ł10k above will not be a nice one. You have to pay around Ł15,000 to get a half decent one and closer to Ł20k for a near minter. Its not the bodywork thats the major issue, although they can rot very easily, its the mechanical side thats the problem. The problem is finding the parts if they do fail/break and even if you do find them, youll pay a bloody fortune for the privelidge.
I WILL own one at some stage though. If i were replacing the cossie it would have to be either a LC or a nice intergrale.

do many Lotus Carltons get tuned/modified?
i'm sure they do, but you hardly ever hear of a standard one, let alone a modded one...
