tightness of sump bolts

how tight do u put the bolts for the sump on a s2, ive put one on but seems to get slacker and squeeze the gasket out when i go round them all

tighten then in the sequence you ewould do the head bolts, ie, opposite end and corner each time, to allow it to be pulled up sqaure, otherwise you could end up deforming it by tightenig each one up to the full torque.

It should be a rubber gasket on a S2 engine - You really need a precission torque wrench to do it, as a normal size one will over tighten them on the lowest setting, as the gasket should really squeeze out the sides much.
Haynes manual has got the settings (which i haven't got to hand
) but defenitly don't overtighten them - you'll end up having to do the whole job again - cos it won't seal; which as you'll know a right pain in the arse if the engine is in the car.

Definatly not as tight as you can???!!!! they need to be torque set if there is a setting. overtightening damages the gasket and causes oil leaks!!
