OK, this is an American story, but still goes to show why many people like to own dogs, and how protective they can be over their adoptive families.
This is why I always prefers dogs over cats. A cat would just leg it.

A FAMILY dog has survived being shot three times - twice in the head - while tackling an intruder threatening his owner.
When a gunman burst through the door of Roberta Trawick's home in Oklahoma, her dog D-Boy leapt into action.
As the intruder shouted at her to get on the ground, D-Boy ran at him, CNN reported.
The gunman shot D-Boy twice in the head but that didn't put off the brave canine.
After shooting the dog a third time with no effect, the gunman fled, Ms Trawick said.

awesome.i have got a staffy bull terrier.he is a big softy but id like to think he would protect me if i was ever in a sticky situation.tho he is that friendly hed prob leg off with the intruder

amazing story, one gorgeous looking pitbull cross too.
dogs are true soldiers, why people use the dogs name to insult people is beyond me, all traits of a dog are those that humans lack!
got 2 fat softy rotties, dont know how they would react in a situation like that... hopefully like that

Bet the twat thinks twice about going near that house again !!
I've got 4 dogs and know my eldest ( a dalmatian ) would protect me and my family from anything, no way would any cunt get in our house when he's around !!!
