Default Audi S4 or Boxster S - discuss!!!!!!!!

Getting fedup now travelling up and down the country for a clean 350Z or F150 Lightning so given up!!!!!!!! Been looking at Boxster S's and there are some clean ones out there but concerned about the age of them / things starting to wear out (should I on one of these?).

However, looking through p.heads/autotrader you can pick up the later S4 Audi's for good money now.

If it were your coin, which one would have over the other out of the 2, bearing in mind its only going to be a toy to use at weekends, plus we have the missus car. Would the Audi be as fun as the Boxster S??

Both of the below are up for similar money and hopefully viewing them at the weekend.

I love Boxsters and did consider one for myself not so long ago. I would go for the earlier B5 platform S4 as they still look good (imo) and with the 2.7 bi turbo motor in there developing 265bhp from the box (with loads of potential for more).

I know my A4 is only a 1.8T but I absolutely love it to bits and wouldn't hesitate recomending one to others.

deffo porker if weekend toy.....................weekend toys are not JUST about performance (not that you would be disapointed with either in that respect). Who the fook wants a saloon or estate as a weekend toy

between them two roof down motoring is the way forwards for weekend fun

Boxter.

Will feel more 'special' than the Audi and will be much more fun than the somewhat soulless Audi.

Thats a tough choice to be honest. Im a Porsche fan and especially like the Boxster, but im also a fan of Audi "S" and "RS" cars. The B6 A4 has the 4.2 V8 too which is a sweet motor and the avant is very practical too!

OK....If I had to choose......I would go for the newer car so the Audi. (DAMN THATS THE SENSIBLE CHOICE)

haha, i'm in the same boat as you polly_x!! I like the fact its a lot newer car for the same money, has loads of creature comforts, i imagine it to be quick (never driven this shape but have the earlier (S plate) one and was impressed. On the other hand i can see the Boxster being fun to drive!! Another sad note is that i'm into my audio etc so would like to put a nice system in it - a boxster may limit this!!!!!

Maxest - thanks mate but silver is a defo no no!!!! GM grey or Blue only!!!

Proper toughy. I always thought the Boxster was the "poor mans" Porsche until i went in one, they are MEGA!!

But i am also VAG mad and LOVE anything S or RS.

Would probably go for the S4. Have you considered a C5 RS6 though? They have came down alot in price! £15k gets you a 03/53 one in very good condition!

As I understand it, the running costs for the RS6 are mega.... completely different league from the B6 S4 and Boxster S.

If it was my own wonga, then I'd go for an S4 Avant in Nogaro Blue, get a stainless system on it to release the V8 note properly then sit back and enjoy the build quality, power and understated looks.

Cheers,
Grant

Neither! That shape S4 is not the one to get. And Boxsters still scream "hmmm couldnt get a 911" How much IS an entry level Carrera 996 these days?

My choice would be a M Coupe or Z4M if Coupe if you can find one cheap enough. (What is your approximate budget)

£14K on Ph

or

£26K on PH

(No connection with sellers)

How is a FWD car even an option?

And if he wanted FWD and fun, theres better choices than ANY nose heavy V6 powered VW.

Yeah james is right i was looking at one last week, but was an exception as it was an absolute minter!! Turns out though that it had a head gasket failure so not so mint underneath the shiny bodywork!!!!

As for leaving the money in the bank until a bargain comes up thats what i've been doing!! Problem is I've been offered both the above S4 and a different boxster s to the one above for VERY good money so will deffo get one or the other!!!! Swaying more to the boxster to be honest at the mo due to it being able to fit in the garage!!

about the same as the boxster i would think mate. I would have the Porsche if just for a toy, if I didn't need to tow and have a bit of room I would always have little sports cars lol. If you wanna use it for everything then the S4, my Audi has been great so can defo reccomend them.
