Can't see the point of all that graft for 150 bhp and a massive amount of weight up front, would a bmw 2.5 diesel not be a better bet wih a remap ?

engine is free and its not hp its torque, i have been in a range rover with this engine in on an auto box and the grunt was far far superior to a e36 325 tds engine. sounds awesome to

engine is now out. im gonna fit bmw flywheel where torque converter was fitted so basically running 2 flywheels ! the flywheel and clutch is half the weight of the torque so should pick up quicker than it did in the rangie. flywheels and adaptor are being machined just gota then fit them, fit gearbox and drill new holes for mounting. oil pan needs moving forward about 6 inches to clear crossmember and i think engine will then fit few pics from wednesday

had the engine in for a dummy run with gearbox just bolted on roughly and got gearbox within an inch of original gearbox mounts but couldnt drop the front right down as sump fouls on the crossmember.

just done speed calculator with gear ratios, 4200 rpm rev limit and a e36 325 tds 2.56 crownwheel and pinion and it came out at 1st 30 mph, 2nd 56 mph, 3rd 85 mph, 4th 113 mph and 5th 142 mph. im thinking that looks pretty good to use the low down grunt.
