Default car transporter needed for thursday

i am planning to go to belgium on thursday to pick up my broken cossie. the plan was to hire a trailer and tow it with my galaxy, but i've since found out that the weight is too much

what i am looking for now, is somewhere that rents out a transit type flatbed vehicle to use, as it is hopefully less hassle and cheaper than renting a van or 4x4 and a trailer.

does anybody know a place that rents them? hopefully close to reading/bracknell, but willing to travel if necessary.

something like this:

thanks for any help

I hired a 08 plate one of above but IVECO one remote control wynch etc
6-speed happily did 95mph with the car on the back, on a private road of course.

It cost me from a Friday 8am to a sunday 8am £185 weekdays are cheaper.

How did you sort this bit matey?

DOCUMENTATION: Fully comprehensive insurance must be arranged by the hirer for the specific transporter being hired and a certificate or cover note produced by the hirer along with a driving licence (both parts for the new style licence) and credit card prior to the hire period.

www.tempcover.com

i get the impression that they don't hire it out much as i asked why they don't insure it and include it in the cost and he said that it's not cost effective. so maybe a deal to be had on it for a long weekend at the 'ring

Its not the trailer he had a problem with - but the weight he could tow!

No good being impounded for being over weight and then needing to get two cars hom from France say!!

Now its funny you say that mate(not the 999 user bit, although that is funny) but i saw "The Truck" in question on the road about 2 weeks later, same reg etc same stickers etc, so if they only have one its repaired....

So i gave them a call and said is the transporter back in yet, the answer i got was no its still out on long term hire.

So basically IMO the cunts fobbed me off saying it was crashed to hire it out to a company for a long period of time - Bunch of pikey feckers!!.

Hopefully there see sense and buy/hire another out soon.

i didn't know what had broken rich - just had the information that there was a terrible noise in the engine and it no longer turns over. it was recovered to the nearest place off the motorway where we collected it from.

did a little bit of investigation at the port and all oil and water was in place, cambelt was in place and plugs 1 to 3 looked fine but found that no.4 spark plug would not come out. have now found out the rest of the damage, will do a couple of new topics later.

thanks a lot mike next time i may be able to borrow a 4x4 to tow with, so may tap you up for it in the future

exactly. could have been treble the misery if 2 cars and a trailer had been impounded by belgian, french or english police at any point along the route.

also turns out that it took a lot longer than i had initially thought to get there and back, and you would not want to be towing a trailer at the speeds that we doing
