the vauxhall boys are getting faster!

Yes I hope it will be a low 11 sec car but only time will tell with regards to getting the power down. I think ultimately I just want to build a car that can rival the fastest fwd vauxhalls so that people realise that Ford folk have been making cr&p excuses for their p!ss poor performance for far too long.
I will put up a thread in the resto section with pictures of the car over the next few months.

i think rs2.7 is either jealous, or blinkered!
I'm a ford man through and through, but i can admit total defeat when it comes to being competative with other tuned cars these days. Lets face it, we suck so much that we can't even string a team together for totb, even if it means losing! We had 1 fwd ford there this year, 1 4wd car and a small amount of rwd ones. Isn't it about time we started trying?

Thats the issue IMO. People seem much happier to throw money at power and then think of excuses rather than working out how to put the power down better. Admittedly some people look at it but very few and far between and in fairness it's probably to little too late now.
Was the time set on slicks?
#164
The corsa's 13.2 sec run on street tyres is far more of an achievement than stuffing a load of gas down it's throat and praying it holds together for 11.5 secs in my opinion .
No doubt chip won't like my opinion as all his mates NEED nitrous to beat everything else and he hates anyone mentioning their gas installs !

Tim and Oli have so much fun with their cars and they are as fast as 500bhp cossie's so I had to join in with something that can beat their sorry arses! LOL (I hope tim and oli read this!
I'm not building it for qtr mile use, it's a track car, but mk 1/2 fiesta's are so great at launching anyway I don't see qtr mile as a problem. Suspension wise everything is adjustable up front, normal solid beam at rear with adjustable camber, and bilstein coil overs all round.

i have something totally different in mind for suspension, i will have to bring it over when i have modded it.compare notes.
430 sounds good power, zt?

Hi lloyd
No its cvh turbo, it's actually the rebuilt engine that powered oli to 173mph as Oli now has a more powerfull engine.
I don't know about totb next year, will see what my bro is doing at the time, main purpose of the car is track/sprints and santa pod.

thats very good power for a cvh,did you ever build that twin engined fiesta?or is this the same shell?
#172
hi lloyd,
Originally I built the twin engined car as a twin cvh engined car, when at the time I was getting around 300bhp from cvh engines. This lead to me changing the shell design to accept two YB cosworth engines as I felt 600bhp (2 x 300bhp) was not enough power. Then the car sat doing nothing whilst my time was taken up with my son and family commitments, during which time I developed the cvh unit's which in their final form are making nigh on 450bhp, so I'm going back to cvh power. However the twin engined car will not turn a wheel until year after next as my 3dr and fiesta are taking up all my spare time, as the 3dr is having it's new engine and the fiesta is a new build. Hence I'm rather busy!

Sorry about leaving you last night chip but i'm back now (and by the way my names not phil) .
So to get back on track i've listed the following for you to sob about :
1= The vauxhalls aren't faster than the Fords when comparing similar vehicles to each other .
2= Anything that's stripped out and with 150-190bhp of nitrous will be fast .
3= Normal rwd road cars on street tyres (so no 7 litre v8 specials with 2 foot wide rear tyres) run similar 0-60 foots to the fwd set up in the Nitrous Corsa despite you saying it's 1.9-2 sec 0-60 foots are crap .
4= x-flow powered mk1 fiesta's have run low 13's without gas on street tyres the same as the Corsa does without gas .
5=You and you mates on here don't like the truth and gang up on anyone who puts you straight about it !

You haven't givena any information. And for the love of Ford, I would prefer it if you never.

Benni, the one doing 11.6 has 500bhp without gas, more power wont make him much quicker, he needs to find more traction to go faster, he is doing 136mph terminals already.
No point straining his engine to make even more power before he has worked out how to get it to the road.

the point is, it's not on road tyres... and it's not in this country. you show me a fiesta or escort in this country that can currently match the vauxhalls? what makes you think that specky's tigra wouldn't be faster than that on slicks?
#193
Does anyone know if this blokes run his car on street legal tyres yet then ? Let's hope he can spank the chav vauxhalls when he does
#197
agreed however instead of pointing that out what i have done is just matched ( and bettered) what he is babling on about
#198
There's not many people who've bothered drag racing with fwd Fords is there and that's the problem ? A few are being built now and they will go as fast as the vauxhalls if you compare similar vehicles to each other . So a tuned 2 litre fwd fiesta will go as fast as a 2 litre fwd vauxhall corsa when stripped out and on the same tyres . We just need to find one !
