Is Steve Patemans Calibra still about? Ex Pro-Mod 11.6 engine if I remmber correctly, still got the Custom Car mag it was featured in, and the Street Machine when it was 'only' a 428ci Pontiac engine.

Seems to enjoy it though, cause he keeps coming back and doing it again and again and again.

I guess statistically he is bound to actually get something correct one day if he keeps posting enough

I like the bit where he was trying to tell Rob and me what Rob's astra would be like with a N/A engine versus a Turbo engine on track, when we've both tracked it with both engines in it but he seemed to think we would learn more by doing what he does and watch people on trackdays than by actually driving

It is a nice car Chip, it does however still run the full stock interior etc.. no weight saving whatsoever, the Calibra is a different thing all together though

He's like one of these weird religious types, who thinks the reason everyone disagrees with him is cause they havent got elightenment yet, he doesnt realise its just cause he is totally wrong, and all the things he is trying to guess about what would or wouldnt happen, lots of us have already done first hand and know EXACTLY what the score is, rather than his wild innacurate guesses all the time

Agreed, the calibra is a complete drag special, not just a mentally quick road car like that

Whats abnormal about it ? its rwd, got some suspension mods and larger road legal treads, it ran 10.2's on the oe diff and shafts !

Technically its a complete road car which is more than we can say for the cars we are discussing, heaters, carpet, leather seats, I used that as an example as its a mates car, there are many others, some a lot faster.

We used to meet up with a fella who had a E30 BMW who run a stock 535 engine on gas, that went into the 11's too with sub 1.7 60fts and that WAS totally stock built on a budget of feck all.

Clearly your a bit blinkered by a few things, might be worth actually spending a couple of weekends at a dragstrip so you have more of an idea what your talking about

That Corsa would into the 12's easily IF they chose to run it off gas, considering what a weekend up the pod costs I very much doubt they would go there attempting to run slower times than normal

I would love to see these same Internet Chats In Pubs. Only saw one at the halfway house meet a good few years ago now.

and that ended up in a mini brawl, with at least two people getting smashed in.

very rarely get civalised chats with newcomers on here.

but when i do post at least i understand what i am typing. You offer nothing other than stupidity and amusement which is fine. thanks for joining the board.
so far you have gone on about k gate twin turbo set up and been corrected, you tried to stick up for Mike R on the dyno stuff but started harping on about rolling roads instead. Mike even corrected you and said he didnt need support from someone who cant even get the correct subject, and now fuck knows what you are on about. You really are just a jester without the bells

Well other than being one of the fastest FWD cars in the country, at 11.5 seconds on gas, and being a previous TOTB winner its just a corsa, and not anything special, ive not said otherwise, other than giving them a bit of advice on their nitrous kit, its nothing to do with me, so I wouldnt really care if everyone thought it was great or not TBH, so you seem to have mistaken me for someone who cares.

But then making mistakes is your forte after all

Phoned someone for support on a forum?

Is that really what you sort of people do?

Priceless.

That never would have even occurred to me

You talk utter nonsense I correct you, makes no difference to me if Rich posts or not, I would imagine he just keeps posting because you are utterly clueless and quite funny to laugh at.

so if I can get a certain fiesta in the 13's off gas I stand a good chance of creeping into the 11's on gas?

Please remember the only strippin out i've done is take out my back seats

It did a 14.5 1/4 at brunters but i'd like to see what it's like at the pod where I can try for a better launch, hmmmmmm

Typically cars lose about 1 - 1.5 seconds on a big shot of gas IME (ie 50-75% engine power or so)

Obviously not always true, but not bad as a rule of thumb.

when my RS was running gas it would run between 14.01 and 14.4@103 off and 13.8 to 14@109 on gas so not much difference that was with a 50 jet. I think you need to have traction sorted or a controller before really upping it. I was using marshall ditch finders at normal pressures lol.
This was in 2001, apologies any excuse to post a pic of my old baby lol

We managed to get Tim's Escort turbo to run a 12.5@124mph earlier this year running his 2007 1.6cvh at 340bhp + 25bhp shot of nitrous for antilag purposes. We have a new power plant for this years performance shootout at brunters with 380bhp and a now with a 50bhp shot of nitrous, so we are aiming for low 12's at 130mph.

Also allthough I have personally been out of the scene for a few years now with family commitment, I will be returning with a super fast fiesta for next year to take Tim and Oli's records! I will personally be hoping for consistent 11 sec qtrs as it is a lightweight (700kg) fiesta with 430bhp.

Karl, you should be running LOW 11s if you have 700kg and 430bhp if you can just make the suspension a match for a standard corsa setup on some coilovers, which doesnt seem a tall order to me personally, as thats more power and less weight than the 11.5 second corsa mentioned in this thread.

Yes I hope it will be a low 11 sec car but only time will tell with regards to getting the power down. I think ultimately I just want to build a car that can rival the fastest fwd vauxhalls so that people realise that Ford folk have been making cr&p excuses for their p!ss poor performance for far too long.

I will put up a thread in the resto section with pictures of the car over the next few months.

Quick Reply: the vauxhall boys are getting faster!
