I dont get it why you guys call it 'reshelling'.

I dont see it that way. its like buying a complete different car and scraping the other! so it doesnt seem that you done something nasty to the car!

If it was a new shell, it would have come with no numbers so have your old numbers been stamped into the floor? If not you have no way of proving it a Cossy shell or a 1.6l shell. Although there was no difference apart from the number sequence

The transmission tunnel is different between the 1.6l and the cossy.

All DVLA approved ones check old numbers and a reshell is fine in their eyes if done correctly and with mostly original parts. So I tend to think the same.

Mine was re-shelled.

Around 3 months after first registration. I have all the receipts for the shell/glass etc from Ford and the family-run garage business that carried out the swap-over owned the car for 10 years after that (their pension-age mother had it). I bought it from them on 24,000 miles.

It obviously shows up on the resister, but didn't worry me in the slightest to be honest.

if ure going to stamp the original numbers, now thats a different story!

BUT, if for example u have a sierra cossie, ad ure reshelling it into a 1.6 shell, it wouldnt be original anymore no? now, if u reshell into another cossie shell, thats alright.

Default reshell, whats the difference in the shells?

so whats the difference in the 3dr (cosworth and basic 1.6) shell's i know the tunnel and heard the sunroof also. but whats actualy different. i'm gessing mine cosher cos its got what looks original threaded holes for the body kit and tunnels not been bashed or welded anywhere.
