How many hours work, roughly has it taken people to properly re-shell a saph 2wd? I know of one going but it sounds rotten.....could be a good opportunity to make myself the sleeper i've always wanted out of a completely std base model saph.
Cheers

i rekon i could put full cossie conversion into a xr4x4 in 3 days if that, inc removing the engine, buts thats a straight for straight swap, with no fuking around for bits if everything is there
into a saf shell, rwd to rwd, would be the same unless you want full car loom fitting then that would take up a lot of time
all depends if you want to uprate thinsg as you go along, as in reality it will only be
14 bolts for complete rear beam
14 bolts for gearbox and engine complete inc cradle and suspension
prop bolts, fuel tank, rad, intercooler then accessories
engine loom can just be wired in as its only 6 wires, if you get a abs model even better as its just engine loom

pisser of a job you can have one striped in a morning and the loom is fook all of a job the only downer on the loom will be the imobilizer it will be in the cozzy loom for sure. an afternoon to retape it and tie it all back should see it out of the way tbh.

yes but thats a starter motor, obviously if the cars running you wouldnt touch it as it will stay on the gearbox
only problem i can think is a captive snapping in rear chassis which is common, the rest is a piece of piss, i can strip a sierra down to a shell on my own ina day, and ive done a rs turbo in 6 hrs lol

Dont forget you will also need lots of space, about 3 cars worth, the last parts from the car being stripped will be the first parts you need in the new shell, ideally you want the cars side by side.

Difficult to say, because at some difficult point when you've bruised various body parts and found something particularly difficult you'll probably say, 'Bollocks to this, why did I even think about doing this pain in the arse job?
' and wander off for a beer or three. But then you'll get the enthusiasm back and start up again. You'll get there though mate.

I got my replacement shell to my mechanic at around the end of January, and he's still not finished it. Saw him last week, said he just had the engine to do... so there really is a light at the end of the tunnel, I keep telling myself...
