Default Bloke at work has had rather a nasty accident!

Some guy I work with was using an angle grinder to cut some bits up. Anyway, the grinding disc dug in and it flicked back, getting him right in the face!

Slashed him from where his jaw bone is, up his cheek, and across his nose

He said he didn't feel any pain at all, the fooker even drove himself to a hospital with tea towels wrapped round his face, to literally hold his face on. Didn't get as far as his eye as he did have goggles on, so really, he had a very lucky escape!!

Christ almighty that sounds nasty, hope the dude is alright !

Took the tip of one of my fingers about a year ago with a grinder, the smell of burnt flesh was worse than the pain

Didnt hurt too much at the time but next couple of days were mighty sore !

my fear when i use an angle grider is the disk shattering, thankfully i've not had it happen (touch wood) but your mate was lucky not to have his face wrapped round the spindle of the grinder.

I rarely even wear goggles when using a grinder, and i use them alllll the time.

Kinda makes me worried now. Well, a bit. I like to live in the "it wont happen to me though" way.

Hence why I prob got AIDS by now

i was once cleaning out the inner arch on my old van with a knotted wire brush attatchment and i touched it against the lip to the outer arch, ripped the grinder out of my hand, straight across my arm and then tangled itself up in my t shirt cutting my arm and chest to pieces, still got the scars now!

Thats very nasty, hope hes ok!

I saw my old man get the bottom of his lip taken off when a Sthil saw blade exploded whilst cutting steel on a barn conversion job. He was lucky as it could of taken his face off.

Also saw a guy try to open a site tool box with the padlock hoop and the handle at the same time! I watched his finger roll across the top of the box and onto the floor. We all looked at each other and he was looking as if to say who the hell does that finger belong to? Didnt take him to long to find out though!

nasty. wouldnt mind seeing it though lol.

the grinder i had at work bounced off what i was grinding and came down on my knuckle right in the middle. went right to the bone didnt hurt and didnt bleed either. one of the office girls didnt like it though when i showed her the bone moving between the skin that looked like moses had parted.

but saying that for about yr after it i had problems bending it

I managed to take the end off two of my fingers at work on my miller. When i got to hospital the nurse asked what i had done to which i replyed "cut the end's of my fingers off" she said "I don't think you would have done". She nearly passed out when i showed her lol The ex-rays looked good, you could see loads of bits of broken bones. From what I can remember the local anesthetic hurt more than the accident

I bought one of those a couple of months ago. I used it once with normal goggles, and realised they were no good.
Im sure I got a couple of the wires fly off and hit me.

I bought a full face mask after that, and try to use that when using a grinder of any sort now.

For all they cost, its worth buying 2-3 of them, just to have them lying handy anywhere in the workshop...so no excuse not to use one.

see that kind of thing happen a lot in work (without injury) when some dumb cunt chops through something heavy and the object being cut collapses under its own weight near the end of the cut

i hate grinders with a passion, i really do lol

doesnt help when i worked on the rail way and we used a 12" engine powered cutting saw to cut rail lol, the disc got a wobble on and what you have to do is chuck the machine away from you as the discs shatter when they geta wobble on sod having one of thos shatter on you

but grinders are just dangerous
