Default Anyone know about karting?

Ive done hire karts a few times for nights out, or stag dos or whatever, and really enjoyed it, much as I like fast road stuff and reckon I could get into trackdays, the competitive edge is missing!

Ive looked at things like the BMW e30 325 series, and the 750MC locost racing, but karting looks to be cheaper, and faster.

does anyone have any experience of whats required to get a license, how much a kart costs (dont need anything new, but anything old enough to be completely uncompetitive at the back of the field isnt good), where the races take place, classes for adults (Im 21) etc?

cheers

Depends what kind of karting and how seriously you want to do it. One thing i wouldnt call it thought is cheap.

Stick to renta style karting if you want to do it on a budget.

Never been in a race series but used to run a kart with a mate down at a place near me called Rye House, a lot of pro karters use it to fine tune/practice so learnt a lot...

All in it cost us about Ł2.5k each in a year after payin Ł1100 for the kart, and we built it up considerbaly from how we got it...ended up twin 240cc and FLEW lol

Will dig out some pics.
