Default Ebay help please....

really sorry but im in a bit of a pickle...

basically i asked people to bid on my bodykit on ebay... and they bid over the reserve for me.. but i got an email from a guy who doesnt have an ebay account but who is coming to buy on sunday for £300... but now i dont want this other guy who was doing me a favour to ahve it looking like hes won... so can i bid say... £500 on it under my mums ebay account, so as to prevent any last minute bidders going for it cos nobody is going to pay that much...

... but does that mean i will pay loads for the listing? does it go on a % of the final sale price? i cant cancel it as the auction ends in a few hours but i dont want to mess things up...

any help much appreciated xx

Yeah, either cancel his bid, or close the sale

So the current top bidder on your auction is a mate of yours and you engineered (read : fixed ) the auction?

If he is a mate, then just let it finish with him as the winner - that way can both leave each other positive feedback as an extra bonus

Shame it so easy for u to get out of it IMO

You tried cheating and fixing things, and u gonna come out of it smelling like roses

Maybe some of the peeps helping u out on here should think about what they would feel like if they found out an item theyed brought had been bid up by a mate

Ive just bought a few things off ebay and rely on the feedback as to wether or not to TRUST someone, spose im just a gullible idiot

lol hey.. .hold on a minute... i only did this cos ive got fucked over so much by people on ebay and i needed to get it over the reserve, but my final bidder isnt off ebay, and u cant cancel ur acution after 12 hours apparently....

i dunno about other people, but i would say i was a very trustworthy person and all my positive feedback is 100% genuine and deserved...

so please dont judge me on your own bad experiences, im sorry u ahve had a rough time by a buyer... me too... thats why this time i wanted to keep things simple....

ps
guys if there is a way of cancelling the auction after 12 hours, even if it has gone over the reserve, how? as it wouldnt let me

thanks xx

Steve, there are way's of telling when you're on the receiving end of "bid up", I was bidding on a nokia 6230, max i was gonna may is 200 sheets, i lost out at bang on 200, so i bid on another, and won it, then got an e-mail back from e-bay saying there had been a bid rectraction, and i was the highest bidder, got the phone for 195 sheets, and will sell it on there for £245 plus a tenners worth of postage

just to make things a bit clearer... i only asked people to bid UP TO the reserve so there was no messing around under my reserve. and i need to sell this bodykit cos every time i look in my fucking garage i see a reminder of the fact that that bodykit which was supposed to go on my boyfriends car will never and it was cos of that fucking car he wont... so i would quite like to get rid of it... and if it was up to me id fucking scrap it but i cant. so im going to put the money to a memorial bench at our old school for him.

so please, dont judge me.

Ok sorry i dont know what happened to your boyfriend, (but have seen your siggy and think it very moving and touching and am obviously very sorry for u that u have lost someone that meant so much to you )

OK i can see your point of bidding up to your reserve, but given the way u putting it about the circumstances of why u want rid of it, personally i wouldnt give a shit how much i got for it i would be just as happy to scrap it, give it away to some one who wanted it.

It still dont change anything that u fixed an auction, and what fucking about is there for u getting up to your reserve, and if it dont then u just dont sell it , NO you wanted to make as much money on it as you could so to guarantee u did get at least what u wanted, u rigged the voting

Sorry cant help judging that my right

And just for the record i aint ever had a bad deal on ebay YET so the system cant be all that bad and believe 90% of users are genuine people relying on a new medium to make a living

i dont see why i have to justify myself to you... but i have been fucked about and have had it listed on ebay before and had no paying bidders etc... and i didnt want to run that risk. i put the reserve of how much james paid for the kit as he bought it brand new, and knowing my boyfriend im doing what he would want me to do. and for your information i am selling in on behalf of his mum too as we are both buying a bench and seeing as a proper bench costs £600 i dont think asking £250 for a bodykit is a lot to be honest...

... again i dont need to justify my actions to you... the auction was not fixed. i put my starting bid at £100 as it was cheaper to to that, i could have set the starting bid at £250 and not put a reserve. same difference. now i had a buyer and i just wanted to know if i could cancel the bid or bid for it myself.

if you knew me you would know that i am the kind of person who would be too ashamed to drop a fucking sweet wrapper on teh floor cos its dishonest... so please dont preach to me about what is right or wrong, this all above board and there are no extra parties involved.

if i was selling something myself on ebay then it would be a different matter.

OK whatever

I dont know you and aint come on here to start an argument, and fair play u didnt ask what people thought of what u had done, u just wanted help so i was out of place to make such a comment

I am sorry if it has upset u due to the circumstances , but i am also actually quite a nice genuine bloke and didnt mean that to happen, so will leave u in peace on your topic

ebay has changed the rules, if there is a bid on it you cannot cancel it with less than six hours to go.
if your mate has bid £300 off ebay then get him to bid £300 ON ebay or a little above what the price is now, cheers nomad
