alot of it is the idiots who think they're bigger than big and will stab you if you look at them wrong. i still say its the parents who aren't teaching there kids what is right and wrong properly and all this bullshit about you can't hit your kids for discipline i knew if i did something wrong when i was young i would get a smack from my mum or dad so therefore was taught of consequences. You never stop people carrying a knife, you have to carry them out a shop when you buy them ffs, i carry one to and from work, im a steverdore(docker) and i have saved someones life because of it, had a ton and half bag of spuds on him, cut the side of bag to release pressure!!

They got to forget about carrying them and try to stop people USING them,

When I purchase a new Kitchen Knife its usually in a packet and I usually get a receipt from the store , I expect they do the same for OAP's... As such both the OAP and myself could justify why they have the knife at that time

If the OAP has taken the knife from the packet and is flashing it to all the other pensioners along with Granny down the bingo 24 hours later, he obviously can not justify why it has been removed from the packet or not left at home after purchase... in this situation I think Gramps should go down and do time

I agree.. if you can not produce a receipt to show you have purchased the knife that day and it is not still in its wrapper or bag as it left the store, you simply can not tell... people that need to carry knifes for work such as decorators can be licensed, everyone else does not have a need to carry a knife, if found with one they should be locked up or shipped to Australia like the good old days

stab injuries are always reported as knifings, but anything that can cut you is listed in the same category as a blade, be it a sword, a machette, an ice pick or what ever other variation of bladery thats being carried out there, and that's not including things that can stab you, such as screwdrivers and the like

nope it wont make a diffrence. over here in oz every copper has a gun. it hasnt stoped it happanign here.. stabbings happen, and shoot outs between cops and criminals happen. i think police having guns make it worse because criminals will carry more than a knives then..ie guns.
