He was asking about class C that is HGV2, if you passed your driving test pre Jan 97 then C1 7.5 ton entitlement (HGV3) will be on there if not then you'll have to take a test for that, I passed my HGV in 2000, I took the class C test then a month later the C+E test total cost was £1150:00, that was 8 years ago for the same now you'll probably be looking at about 2 grand

I done mine about 6 years ago.
£24 Provisional entitlement
£68 medical
£15 theory
£48 initial assessment
£850 5 day course
£95 test fee
I needed mine asap and just rang round the yellow pages going further and further out and got the wait time down from 6 months to a month.

just had a scout around, local place to me with all new wagons and highly rated etc I'm looking at exactly £1k for class C, havent got the money but I might stick it on a card or something and pay it off later.
Whats the theory test like? worth buying the book or is it just common sense like the car one was?

Theory is piece of piss, mine was as easy as car.
Some questions you could get though..
One is: What do you do approaching a tunnel.
4 answers, correct one is tune to local radio to check it's not blocked, or something like that.
WTF

just to add for anyone reading a lot of people think you have to have 7.5t before class 2, You don't you can go straight in to Class 2 if you are over 21 i waited so i didnt have to fork out for both,
You need class 2 before 1 but luckily you don't have to do theory again, Costs about 800 - £1000 around here

Im doing mine at the mo. Passed me theory test couple of weeks ago and started my practical last friday. Got my test booked for this thursday so with a bit of luck it will go to plan. I'd definatly recommend getting the dvla theory test book, its a bit different to the car test as you have to score 51 out of 60. Luckily I got 59 but there were a few hours spent at work going through the book. Medical cost me £80 and you need to take a D4 form along with you form it which you can download off the direct gov website.
Actually, here it is http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/Do...ng/DG_10031645
Got all the forms you need on there.
Once I had everything to send off for my provisional it only took the dvla a few days to send it back to me updated which I was quite impressed with.
Hope that helps

Did mine almost 3 years ago now. I think it was about a grand for class c and 800 ish for C+E. Medical was £40 cos it was organised through the training centre. Worst part for me was the stupid hazard perception test on the theory!! How daft is that. It's so not like the real world. Took about 6 weeks to get in for my theory, a week after that I was on my class C test. Took a month between them cos my son was born. I reckon as said before 8 weeks from start to finish is about right.
Good jobs to be had aswell if you work for the right company

i did mine 6 months ago.
£1000 for the weeks training inc test and theory. i had to wait 3 weeks for my theory space. i got the dvd that you can do practice tests on ,and i aced the test. you get an hour and i took 11 minutes i didn't think it was easy its ceranly not common sense, but if you know the "right" answer . As said above, when your approachig a tunnel, your not supposed to slow down, but instead tune into a local radio station and listen for taffic reports FFS! the training isn't that bad, everyone's different though. some people have trouble with a 4 over 4 gearbox, but the only thing i had probs with was left turns, i just kept brushing the kerb.( a fail. ):x still passed though
and dont forget you need to send your license off to the dvla first to get the provisional entitlement added for class 2

can anyone recommend some good agencies for driving work - van or 7.5 tonne? i want to work 3 days a week, not full time.
i may also look at doing further licences if it would bring more money in, paying to do training and tests is not a problem if it can be recouped

my mate does 3 or 4 days a week up at the airport, but he used to work there full time and now goes in and asks if ther eis work
if it's worth the effort and there is good mone to be made he hires a van, does the drop, then returns the van again
most places will charge you around £40 - £50 a day unlimited mileage and insurance etc so that's chapear than forking out on a new motor, plus you get breakdown cover thrown in for those "just in case" moments
as for the hgv stuff, i passed my class 2 way back in 95, my psv in 96 so i can drive a 4 axle (with hiab) about the place and a coach and trailer (i think it's D+E ? ), but it's been about 3 years since i last saw my license so i might be wrong
