Rally-X tomorrow
#2
Darren,
Enjoy! I used to go to Rallycross at Brands and Lydden Hill many years ago. It's a very underated sport, and without a doubt it's fantastic motor-sport......In those days fighting it out it was:
John Welch (X-trac Escort)
Martin Shanche (RS200)
Will Gollop (Bi-turbo Metro 6R4)
Rob Gibson (Metro 6R4)
Graham Hathaway and his brother - both had RS200's
Dimi Mavropolis - RAPID Audi Quattro
Mark Rennison (RS200)
Trevor Reeves - Cossie RWD!!!!
.............loads more names/cars I cant remember at the moment.

I dont suppose most of those names I listed above mean much now days.
But in those days those car/driver combinations were the BOL**X!!!!!! They fought out some of the most amazing battles.....loads of contact, on the tarmac and on the loose with cars that were 700 -800 BHP.......

I remember a lot of the names and cars above. If I was closer i would have been going as rallycross is the daddy. I usually go to the touring cars but in my opinion rallycross is much better.
Have a great day and lets see your piccies tomorrow please?

Also, it's a long journey for me now days, I lived in Surrey back then - quite near the M25, so Brands Hatch and Lydden Hill were less than 2 hours journey time.

I agree with Doug about it being highly underated, all private teams and open pitlanes, only £10 to get in and a full day out. Will be there tomorrow bright and early with the camera's and bbq's

Where can you find out about the events and when there held for Rallycross?
Saw a feature in one of the Ford mags and it looked awesome, looks like something i'd enjoy
Oh, and whereabouts is Brands Hatch, might make the trip tomoz if its not too far
