yes went last year a total shit hole if you go out of the hotels complex,at weekends the locals are allowed in to the hotels and take over,would i go again no way

We went for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. Yes the place is generally a tip outside of the resorts but there are some really good tours through the sugar fields. But failing that if you have a decent hotel you'll be sorted as it's great to just chill out and snorkel

Will go there eventually though i swear! Everyone ive spoken to said the same, the resorts are fantastic but its really rough outside the complex

went last year, the hotels are on resorts as said, they are pretty huge, but if your used to going to the carribean then its no differant, dont forget these place border on being thrid world, yet they have the weather and beaches we sadly do not.

we loved it, was great, was very tropical though in Jan (as you should expect)

its a very poor country.if you go outside the complex you get mithered to death by the locals.the police are one of the poorset paid workers there so dont give a shit.

even the private beach had its own locals that kept mithering to sell you stones,watches,etc-does my head in!

wouldnt go back,but its a beautiful country-the sugar field expedition in a huge 8 wheeler was good

Put Dominican Republic into Google and start reading the results.It seems to be a right hellhole,corrupt cops,42% of the population below the poverty line,lies in the middle of the hurricane belt and subject to severe storms from June to October; occasional flooding; periodic droughts and does a nice line in drugs ie.,

Seems like a nice place to bring the new wife,enjoy!!!I'd have gone to Miami myself or the Florida Keys if its the Caribbean weather you're after.Regards,Micky

|Ive been twice to both sides really nice place to go to relax say just you and your mrs only advice id say id tip the staff you will get looked after by the staff 100% and this is the same at any resort , we were told by the rep not to but all the yanks there do and they get served before you and better quality tip then and you will get better drinks and better quality room service both times i stayed at a rui hotel both with great reports online.

Been in Sosua in 2000 and had a great time there.
Food was best i ever had on a holiday,went diving twice,been to "Bounty Island" in Samana and also went out in the nights at the local bars and had no problems whatsoever,only with the local hookers who keep asking you for drinks cigarettes and a shag

Top country and i would go again,and we didn't stay in a resort
