Riu mambo Dominican Republic?
Has anyone stayed at the Riu mambo in the Dominican Republic?
If so, what did you think? Was it good?

The Riu Mambo was one of three hotels in the complex and you can walk between the three of them, I think you can also swim and use the bar of the other two as well.
The room that we stayed in, was ver comfortable with a clean bathroom, bath and overhead shower. The room we had also came with two large single beds which we just pushed together to make an even bigger double bed.
There was a small table and two chairs plus two chairs on the balcony. The balcony also had a small airer for drying your towels. (Towels are cleaned every day and are warm when you collect them)
The swimming pool was great and I certainly reccommend that you join in with the water polo or the horsey horsey that they ask you to play!! The animation team are very funny once they get to know you, they will happily come and eat their lunch with you or sit and do your crossword.
The food for me was quite limited, good if you like fish or you are willing to try anything - something that I am pants at!!! It is self service food and drinks.
Unfortuantely we visited during hurricane season and caught the tail end of three hurricanes and we were often confined to our room. I reccommend that you take plenty of books/magazines to read as the gift shop in expensive.
We did the trip to Ocean World and did the Dolphin Experience, it was brilliant, worth every penny. I am glad that we didnt pay for the swim as you didnt seem to get much more for your money. Watching the tigers in the water was also good fun and then swimming along side them was even better.
The other trip we did was Paradise Island which James and I loved. Brilliant snorkelling a speed boat trip through the mangroves, a long day but worth it. The island was just like the maldives and it made us sad that we werent actually in the maldives, which is the most amazing place on this earth.
At the beach next to the hotel be aware of the jelly fish as I got stung and so did several other people, in the end they stopped people going in the water.
Dont go to the Riu Mambo for snorkelling like we did as you will be disappointed, go for a relaxing break and you will have a great time.
Hope you have fun.
