Default Audi S8

Yes i know its a ford forum but your a knowledgable bunch so.......

Back in the market for a half decent motor 6-8k

Always fancied a big luxury barge that can shift

Been looking into the 99 onwards s8's and it looks like they can shift (360 bhp)

Parts for consumables (brakes etc) dont look to bad either

Sounds like they are bullit proof so hopefully wouldnt have to worry about the engine

What are servicing costs likely to be ?

Also, are they decent motors ? Anyone had one ?

I borrowed one for a few weeks and they are a lot of car for the money, double glazed, satnav, all the toys and for very little money.

The purple ones are a good look.

Have you looked at the BMW 750 also??

Excellent car for the money if this is the market you are looking at.

I got a soft spot for them A8's, sooo much car for so little money.

There was one for sale on E38 a few weeks ago, all the toys and he only wanted £3300 for it i think.

It shouldnt break, and I am sure damn it it will be cheaper to maintain that a forever breaking cosworth (its not their fault bless them they getting old now) but an S8 is a good look, not a fan of the farmer green but keep us posted how you get on.

where you been looking?

pistonheads, top one is under 15k for a 2002 plate D2 ( which seems 3k over priced! ), all the 98 -99 plates are around 5-9k

stonehavencossie have a brouse over at www.rs246.com

the facelift in 99 increased power from 340-360bhp

the 0-60 for the 340 is 6.6 but ive got a magazine which has the 360 at 5.6 secs

can 20 bhp make that much difference

also, the advert just says 99 how do i know if it is the 360 version ? its got sat nav which is a sign it may be

my bad then, these things have plummeted in value over the last 2 years or so

if i didnt have to commute to work in it i'd seriously consider one

having borrowed my ex's uncles one on occasion, i say they truly do shift and they are soo easy to drive

good choice

with rising petrol costs and the 2001 or newer large road tax hike, cars like these will take a big hit,

bad if your selling,

good if your a petrol head and mpg comes last on you cars spec list

just need the RS6's to fall to that price

Noticed the S6's are to much more.

2000 onwards use the same 4.2 v8

look slightly more modern to

any thoughts on these ?
